I ordered the hummus plate, and am glad it was put in a to go box because I was not able to finish it all. The hummus is creamy and the baba ganoush was delicious! My husband is still tearing up over his spicy shawarma and loved every bite of it. The garlic fries were crispy and had just the right amount of garlic over them. Glad we stopped by!

Lamb kebabs done to perfection. Hummus fresh and great with freshly made pita chips. If there is a rush of orders, wait outside with a cold drink and watch the downtown characters drive or walk by.

We decided to check this place out after reading some of the reviews. I am so glad that we did. The food was delicious! We got the hummus, feta wrap, chicken kabob, kefta kabob wrap, and Shawarma wrap. Everything was delicious! The service was also on point! Oh, and we all shared an order of the garlic fries (I may not want to breathe on my hubby for a while ), they were totally worth it though! Great Mediterranean Food!

  • Megha G.

Have tried the veggie combo, falafel salad and wrap, all awesomely delicious! Everything looked and tasted fresh, perfectly spiced. I think I am going to be their frequent customer.

Really great no nonsense falafel with an interesting no nonsense staff. Grape leaves are authentic. Rice and salad are also legit. Small dining area is enough and cozy. Drinks are also complimentary (not free but go well with food).

I passed by this place on my way back home and wanted to try it out. We came out for dinner and Art and his cook were fabulous and very very friendly. He went step by step on the menu items answer the questions then to order. We got the food fresh hot and extremely tasty. My wife says we found a new hangout in Morgan Hill. The garlic fries we're out of this world and in our tummies... I would definitely recommend trying this place when you are in town or if you are a local and like Mediterranean food. I think my wife was right we are going to make this a hotspot.

Mediterranean magic made its way to Morgan Hill. This place has great food, a great feel, and the customer service reminds me of a genie in a bottle. The garlic fries makes me want to spread my thighs, definitely worth the bad breath. And the main attraction is Billy the chef, a true hero. He is super friendly, very entertaining, and a lot of fun. Ask him to show you his breakout moment on the news. Plus, it's a good amount of food for the price, it really made me falaFULL!

Like the place, like the food, like Art. Have been back already and can't wait to go again. Art and his crew are hometown heroes...this is the kind of guy who deserves local business. What a great man of the community...thanks guys...that could have been any of us on that bus...see you in a few days for more shawarma and humice! ktvu.com/story/29077046/…

First time got here, love everything we ordered, mixed beef and lamb lavash sandwich was very tasty. Thank you!

Well just had a tasty meal 2 weekends in a row from Mr.Falafel. The Shawarma has a great flavor and very spicy the way I like it. The marinade lamb is very addicting. I may have to go back next weekend. Plus I must not forget the Hummus, it's mighty tasty and the ironic part is I'm not a fan of Hummus. But I keep ordering a To-go container so I can enjoy it at home. I suggest a visit to Mr.Falafel and enjoy a kick ass meal.

I went in the place to visit a friend of mine to say hi and see how he was doing, and while I was there I the first thing listed on the menu. A regular falafel (spicy). It took about 4 or 5 minutes for my buddy to hook it up and I was running late on somebody that had been waiting for me so I took it to go. Right when I took the first bite I could not believe how good it was. literally was the most flavorful and filling thing I have eaten since my mom passed away in '05. This thing was so good when I got to my friends I couldn't stop talking about it so she decided to go get one herself and had the same experience that I did. Which also proved it was not just a homie hook-up or at least from what i have seen everybody is getting a home hook-up! I would definitely suggest this place to all friends and family looking for a great place to get a bite to eat in Morgan Hill!

Limited seating for parties larger than 3, but food was great, service was great, Betsy and Jimmy were amazing. I ordered the Lamb kebab expecting a smaller meal than a Shwarma- instead, I had a feast. The lamb was cooked to perfection alongside the rice, pita bread, and fresh salad. On top of that, when my friends and I ordered a slice of bread pudding, Betsy gave us a a mini poundage instead!

  • Abey Q.

Outstanding people that work there! The restaurant owner and crew stepped in and assisted a bus driver and passengers from an attack from a person with mental problems. I plan on visiting your business when I am in the Morgan Hill area for sure. Note directed at establishment: You all put yourselves in harms way and I appreciate your bravery. You didn't know what this deranged person might do and that didn't stop you from helping out. Bravo!

So glad the reviews steered me right. Best meal at Mr. Falafel!!! The food was delicious!!! We ordered a Kefta wrap and a Beef Kebab plate. The Kefta wrap was flavorful and plentiful. I ordered mine spicy, it did not disappoint. The Beef Kebab plate comes with rice and salad. We paid extra to get a delicious lentil, rice and caramelized onion rice that was on display. Meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The Baklava was delightful! So glad to find this gem, I will be back soon!

Love this place! Really good food. Staff is super friendly. It's clean. We've been here twice, and we will be back for more :)

Terrific food, fast and friendly. The staff were excited to see us and loved to describe the food. Great seasoned fries! Grilled/toasty & soft pita. Great wraps with a nice spicy hit but not overkill.

  • Mary H.

Lamb Shawarma was very tasty. My husband had the same dish over rice. Staff are very friendly and our food was served quickly. Nine tables for outdoor, sidewalk seating.

On a whim, I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner, and I'm so glad that I did. I got the vegetarian dish that has a little of every thing. Hummus, baba ganoush, greek salad, tabbouleh, doma, and falafel. It was all delicious! It was so much food (even for me!). The only down side is that there isn't really a place to sit. There's one table inside, and the rest is outside, right next to busy Monterey. Morgan Hill has a lot of loud motorcycles and various cars. Being called Mr. Falafel is definitely appropriate. the falafel was the best part of my meal. Pro-tip: Get your food to go.

  • Jenn P.

Love this place. The staff and owner are always very friendly. You feel like family when you're here. I've only eaten a few things here but I've loved everything I've tried. I highly recommend the spicy falafel on lavash with hummus. The salads are great and so is the baklava. You've got to check this place out!

  • Corey S.

I have driven past Mr. Falafel a couple hundred times but never felt the urge to stop by. A friend and I were hungry and after kicking around a few ideas decided to try something new. We walked in not knowing what a falafel even was so the great folks behind the counter asked us one question, "Do you like meat?" Seeing the look of delight in our faces the Shawarma Wrap was recommended and man was it good! Falafels are balls of meat (in case you are like me and had no idea what or who it was) , this one had lamb and beef. My friend and I were still a little hungry afterwards so next time we'll have to get some hummus. Their menu is kid friendly having hamburgers, fries and corn dogs. It's great when you walk into a place not knowing what your experience is going to be like and walk out overwhelmed with satisfaction. I look forward to returning.

You know what it's like to want what you want when you want it? You want some of this not all of that this on the side more of that and hold that off altogether. You're probably a girl. Ha! No matter. Well this is the place that aims to please. You can customize the menu to fit your taste and be indulged all with a smile. Nothing fancy here, more outdoor seating then in, but yummy, plentiful food at very reasonable prices. And the owner could not have been nicer. We had the Chicken Schwarma, the varied salads-tabouli and feta with cucumbers and tomatoes-and the kabobs. Juicy, fresh and scrumptious. The food is served in those colored plastic baskets, but sit outside and eat while listening to the piped in music on Monterey Rd. or the satisfying oohs and ahhs of your table mates as this devour their meal. We'd be regulars if we lived closer. Definitely come eat if you want healthy, delicious food, in a very very casual setting served by people who really appreciate their customers.

Detoured off Hwy 101 for a late vegetarian lunch. Great food. The falafel was fresh and moist, the eggplant dip was smokey and rich. Generous portions, and plenty of extras to choose from, all of which looked great. Takeaway window with outdoor seating. Parking lot. No bathroom. All good. The detour might become a regular stop.

I'm from the 559 so this was a dinner pit stop while coming home from SF. I grew up in a Middle Eastern home where I ate home made falafel so I doubted that I would really enjoy the falafel but they proved me wrong. For those of you who have yet to try falafel, it's essentially chickpeas, parsley, and garlic ground together and then deep fried into little balls. Sounds weird but very flavorful. The falafel here were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, just as they should be. They don't lie about those garlic fries either. You could probably kill a vampire by blowing a kiss to him after just one bite. We had the vegetarian plate and split a beef schwarma. The schwarma was just okay in my opinion but the veggie plate's yalanchi and babganoush were both soooo good. The tabouleh salad could use a little more flavor and parsley. It was kinda dry so I suspect they don't let the flavors meld long enough (we usually let ours sit for a few hours) but it was still good. Very friendly staff too. They let us use the employee bathroom instead of making us walk across the street and find a bathroom because we were about to pee our pants! This place is great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Give it a go next time you have a Mediterranean craving!

While this place is not without its flaws, it's still one of the best casual restaurants in Morgan Hill. The garlic fries are some of the best. You can get the same fries at A-Jay's Cheese Steaks too, but since I'm not really a cheesesteak sandwich guy, I'll go here. The fries are crunchy and fluffy and well-seasoned on their own, and the minced garlic and herbs will satisfy any garlic lover. I wouldn't call their take on the falafel my favorite. That distinction still belongs to Falafel Drive-In. However, Mr. Falafel does use a sweet and spicy sauce in addition to tahini, and the deluxe version includes some nice additions in the form of hummus, eggplant, and potatoes. As I've said before, it's a good alternative to driving from Morgan Hill to San Jose. The shawarma is what I'd come back for. You can taste the lamb with the beef, and the spices, veggies, and spicy and tahini sauces all complement the lavash wrap. I'm also a fan of how they actually fold the lavash because the filling is able to settle at the bottom, preventing a doughy last bite as you might get with other wraps. My only issue is that they sometimes give you tougher, chewier pieces of meat instead of tender cuts as you'd hope for. I've had the kefta kebab here too. It strongly resembles a hamburger patty aside from the presence of lamb. Aside from having ground meat, it's pretty much the same as the shawarma. It's an interesting alternative. Park on the street if it's available, or use the lot behind the oversized shack that holds Mr. Falafel. They don't close between peak lunch and dinner, so any time is a good time for a delicious wrap.

Art is one of the friendliest cats I've met. While I was waiting for my food, he let me taste test a few things and we engaged in some friendly small talk. All of it was good. The falafel was worth the wait. I took it to go, got home, and it was the best thing I'd had in my life from a small joint like that. With good food and friendly owner/staff, you can never go wrong. They all know how to make their customers feel welcome. I will definitely be going back.

I love me some falafel and after finding this on yelp and having it catered in the staff room for treat Friday, I had to come here again! What we ordered dolmas, babaganoosh (sp?), and falafel. The dolmas were pretty good at .50$ a piece. We originally ordered six, but the owner said "don't you want 10 for $5" making it seem like he was giving us some discount when he really wasn't. The babaganoosh was pretty good too! I'm not an eggplant fan, but the boyfriend loved it! The falafel: so I had wanted it packed separately since I wasn't going to eat it for about an hour or so. I was given instructions on how to heat it up if I left it out too long, but was told it wouldn't get soggy in an hour. Wrong...it was a bit soggy but still so good. Next time, I'd ask for some extra tahini on the side. Parking: they have a little lot that you get into through the back. You can't get in from the main street because the signs are all exit signs. -1 star because the owner didn't offer their yelp check in discount. He said they haven't for a while and that's fine, but then as an owner you need to find out how to get the offer removed from yelp.

My friends and I stopped by here for dinner on the way to SoCal for the Spartan race. The restaurant is a small building with some outside seating. I ordered the beef and lamb shawarma and my girlfriend had the chicken shawarma. They were both really good. The meat was super tender and flavorful. My friend had a lamb kebob and wow, the lamb just melted in your mouth. Later, we shared a huge cut of bread pudding. I never had anything like that before but man, that was so good. I wish I can have some more. Betsy and Jimmy, the owner and her nephew definitely made this place a great experience. They really care about the customers and their satisfaction. Betsy came out a few times to check up on us, making sure we had everything needed and if we were enjoying our food. Betsy cracked a few jokes here and there as well. My buddy Ryan went in at the end to get a slice of bread pudding and ended up with a giant piece for all 6 of us to share! If I'm in the area and am in the mood for a shawarma or falafel, I'm definitely coming back here.

This is for service. More then half an hour is passed and no food yet. The man at the counter(taking orders) is completely absurd. My husband asked him is the falafel wrap has falafels in it or not,he said seriously and gave weird expression. The answer could be yes or no. Then serving guy served us with garlic fries and sauce. I was about pour the sauce in and he took it away from me. As it was accidentally served and was for someone else. Such a chaos with order serving don't know how the food will be. So after a while finally food came in. It is good, we ordered falafel wrap which has tahini sauce. But there wasn't any tahini sauce. Although quantity is good, be prepared to eat it with tomato ketchup. Garlic Fries were good,

My wife and I were driving home to the City from Santa Barbara, we got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the 101 and of course we're hungry. She looked for a restaurant open right around 9pm, and found this gem. We made it right before they closed down for the night, but Art insisted we could stay and eat, and we were glad he did. (While there, another customer came and Art let him eat too) The food was really good. I had a lamb kabab, and my wife had a shawarma, both of us agreed that this is our new stop on our road trips to and from home for now on.

Been here a few times. Small place owned by the same owner as a bunch of the food places downtown. I've been ok, but the one time my parents went - both of them got food poisoning. Food is decent, but not wonderful and after the food poisoning incident - I have avoided.

This place is a gem tucked into the oddest little building. We were hungry and had no real idea what we wanted so we settled on this place on a whim. Best move ever. I had the chicken shawarma (sp?) and the domas and it was all delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful and the domas were perfect. The people there were equally amazing. The owner, his young son and the chef are all very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. Even though we were sitting outside they made sure to check on us. Our little waiter even took the time to explain to us what some of the items we were unfamiliar with were. The downside, it's a tiny and awkward building. It does have 1 table for 2 inside but with all the people the placing orders it's more of a waiting spot than a place to eat. They do have tables outside, which is were we ended up, but the street is so busy it's hard to have a conversation. Conclusion: I'll definitely be going back, and often, but I'll probably get it to go

With all the great reviews, I had really high hopes of loving this place. Cute little A frame building on Monterey Road smack dab in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill. Very small with only one 2 seater table inside but several nice tables outside to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Inside it's a tad warm so it wouldn't be comfortable to sit inside anyway. Because I was on my way back to the office, I placed my order to go. I ordered the beef and lamb shwarma. Everything is made to order quickly and I was on my way back to the office. Mmm my car smelled delightful and I my mouth was watering. I couldn't wait to sit at my desk and open up this bad boy so I kinda drove a little faster than I should have. lol I quickly unwrapped this bundle of goodness and took my first bite .... instant disappointment. The meat was tough and flavorless. I've had several gyros and sharamas in the past 2 years since my husband and I have "discovered" we love Greek food and have so many options in the Campbell area. Anyway, this was not anywhere near the standards I've had elsewhere. This shwarma desperately needed salt and some seasoning. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Maybe I should have ordered the name sake falafel? Hmmm "maybe" I'll try it again if I'm passing through on my way to the office again. We'll see ....

AH-MAZING. Yep. The best falafels... wait for it... we've ever had! And we're coming from San Jose, where there is definitely not a lack of falafels! Walked into this hole-in-the-wall, and watched them scoop the fresh falafels into the fryer, throw the pitas on the grill, slice the chicken, etc. We ordered the hummus plate with chicken shawarma on top (and some spicy tahini, cucumber, and tomato concoction that was delicious), and the falafel plate. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and fresh. The hummus was creamy and such a pleasant consistency. We will definitely be back. We just moved here, and it doesn't hurt that this place is quite literally around the corner! Must try everything!

First time at Mr. Falafel. While I was waiting to place my order I noticed the deli items contained baklava. When I asked about it I was told they didn't make it themselves. Strike one. I ordered the Shawarma Wrap. The beef and lamb in it were completely overcooked and dried out. Very difficult to even swallow it was so dry. Strike two. I asked for a cup of tap water and was told they didn't have it...you had to purchase a beverage. I mean, c'mon! How much can it cost to offer a cup of tap water if you buy Dixie cups at Costco? 5 cents? Strike three. Oh...and no inside seating...only outside. Morgan Hill is toasty hot in summer. Even with an umbrella (ours was broken, so we weren't fully covered) I was sweating. By the way, Mr. Falafel is located on the main street in MH, so tons of traffic noise, including Harley D motorcycles. Strike four. Need I say more?

I have to try lamb next time.. price is cool but hey im coming from LA where you can find anything for undet $5 lol. But for Morgan hill folks, its a good price. Hummas was also good. Light and healthy.. so yeah next time your in morgan hill go to this spot!

YUMMY! I recently ate here with my son and my daughter on separate days and we absolutely loved the shawarma! My daughter and I got chicken and he got beef and lamb. The sauce was delicious and nice and spicy. Art the owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. The guy who cooked on Thursday at about 3:30 pm and Friday evening (not sure of his name) he did a great job and also very friendly! We will definitely be back! Thanks guys! Susan

Love this place!! Ordered the spicy shawarma wrap, garlic fries and dozen falafels. They don't skimp on the fries, and the falafels were crunchy outside, but moist on the inside. This place is better than many in San Jose, and has a pretty big selection for such a tiny establishment. I'll have to come back for the shawarma salad next time!

  • Dang L.

Stopped by for quick bite on out way down south. Got the beef kebab that comes with a salad and rice. The husband liked it but thought the meat needed more flavor. Got the falafel wrap which my daughter liked and I got the falafel supreme which included eggplant and potatoes. The falafel balls were flavorful and the wrap was slightly spicy. Pretty decent food for a small restaurant. Also got the tabuleh which was okay and not as flavorful as other places o have been.

One word describes this place! EXCELLENT!!!! I had the falafel wrap and I ask myself y I didn't try this sooner! Hummus is delicious cucumber salad is great! And the guy who helped me was the nicest! Perfect vegetarian selection and good choices for my meat and potato lovin hubby! Double thumbs up! I'll for sure be back!!!!

As usual, our favorite falafel spot south of San Jose, in fact I'll put these guys up against any other falafel house that provides the level of customer centric business, starting with the yelled out welcome when you enter, to the banter of the staff calling the tickets and dropping the garlic fries ( SO WORTH THE CALORIES) to my favorite tg

Trust me when I tell you, get the Mujaddara. I haven't found one this good since leaving my favorite Lebanese Restaurant back in Northern Virginia. Thank you thank you thank you for having this Mr. Falafel!

This is our third or fourth time sitting down at Mr. Falafel in Morgan Hill. Without a doubt some of the best middle eastern food I've had since living in Bahrain. The hummus is smooth and tasty and the schwarmas are spicy enough to light your mouth on fire. Perfect! The only reason we didn't give them a five is we had ordered a chicken schwarma and got a beef one instead. But we were so hungry we didn't give two hoots. Be warned the bathrooms are in the building next door and seating is limited. It's worth a visit!

Honestly I didn't know what to expect from a place called Mr. Falafel: I was imagining either a tacky generic fast-food place or a beloved 5-star hole-in-the-wall. Clearly, it turned out to be a beloved 5-star hole-in-the-wall. The owner is super friendly and helpful. It's a pity that so many previous reviews have complained about him being rude, because I see him as a fun guy with a big heart. Unfortunately it seems that too many people took his jokes too seriously so he's toned it down quite a bit. Darn, I secretly wish I got teased with his interesting sense of humor. (FYI he looks just like the face on the storefront logo... that already tells you something about his unique personality). The other staff there are really courteous as well; what's more is that it isn't exactly waiter service, so you know they aren't doing it solely in anticipation for the tip. It's small and not the most luxurious, but the ambiance is nice. First of all, it's in a cute little house with a tall sloping roof. The seating is outdoors with pots of flowers hanging off a fence, patio furniture, tablecloths. True, there is an extra paper on top for easy cleanup, but when was the last time you went to a casual, inexpensive restaurant with tablecloths?! I picked this place in order to avoid going broke from all the other fancy restaurants in Downtown Morgan Hill, but it looks like I still got some fanciness from the tableclothes here. If you're adventurous and love to try different things, I suggest the vegetarian combo ( hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, 2 dolmas, feta cheese, seasoned onions, cucumber, and tahini sauce with pita bread). It's a filling vegetarian feast, with bonus points for being healthy. Each side is distinctive and tastes homemade. The hummus seems to have a hint more lemon and is lighter than most places, pairing perfectly with the warm pita. The eggplant and dolmas are fairly pungent, so it may surprise you at first but the more you eat, the more you come to like it. The tabbouleh and salad are fresh and crunchy, though the feta cheese comes in huge cubes and has a dense flavor; I would be careful about wolfing down the salad if you are not a big fan of cheese. We also tried the chicken shawarma wrap, which was excellent as well. The chicken is well marinated and seems slow-roasted. The accompanying spiced tahini sauce is among the best I've ever had, satisfying yet light. Add the fresh veggies for a crunch and you get a refreshing meal that does not leave you wallowing in food coma. Tip: The online menu is out of date, but seriously I don't think you can go wrong with ordering. I meant to order the chicken sharwarma rice plate and accidentally ended up with the wrap but it was delicious.

Best falafel I have ever had, try it spicy if you like it hot...I had the falafel salad and a salad has never made me so full! Everything else looked amazing too, I'm definitely going back...and on a side note, the service was amazing, great people, great food, great place. :)

Holy shit Batman - the Chicken kabob is out of this world. The dude that runs this place looks like the guy on the brochure so you know the food is good. My wife and I would definitely go back for a meal and take out next time we are in Morgan Hill. The humus is excellent and a bit on the pricey side for a cheap-scat like me...but I had dreams about it. Update: We went back the next day and bought salads and humus to go (sold by the pint container). Kids like the burgers and fries. This place would make a mint in a bigger location. We ate outside and the owners served us - such nice people. Parking is a little weird so grab a spot on the street if you can. Toasted pita is awesome.

I was eager to try this place after moving here because of the great reviews. While we got our food quickly and had a nice spot to eat outdoors, the food wasn't that great. Several pieces of meat were so tough I had to pull them out. Overall the wrap was dry and salty and I couldn't finish. I've had good Mediterranean food where the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. Maybe my expectations were too high.

When I first went to Mr. Falafel, I was thinking this is a little pricy. But then I found my self coming to eat at this Mediterranean restaurant at least once a week. I love their Kefta Kabob Wrap, or Lamb Kabab Over rice with green salad and pita bread and most of the sides are really good. I cook most day's, but I like to eat out at least once a week. This is the place to eat. Love, Love

Great food, highly recommend if you are in the area. Great people behind the counter. Bathroom is a little strange to get to have to cut through grill and oven. Well worth it though.

Be careful the big guy with the clutches charges extra. Also they are very stingy with the sauce...Sounds like they're always fighting! Would not recommend this place.

I had a chicken shawarma plate with hummus, pita, and a couple falafels. It was SOOO good; I think I'll go back tomorrow! My 3 friends all enjoyed their wraps too and we can't wait to go back.

The food can take a little while but oh man, is it worth it! The falafel and hummus are both amazing. Kinda makes me sad I don't live in Morgan Hill...I'd be a regular visitor of Mr. Falafel!

We've eaten here twice in the last couple months. First time I had the vegetarian platter (quite a bit of food) and the second time, the falafel wrap. Both were excellent. My husband had the chicken shwarma wrap (I think that's what it's was?) and the second time the lamb plate. All of the food is very fresh. The staff was very friendly. This is going to be a staple in our take out rotation going forward.

WOW! The Tahini sauce is off the farggin chain I want to drink it. This Falafel slaps on any falafel I have had anywhere from Ny to Cali and its vegan! so good.

Yummy! The baba is the real deal. The tabbouleh salad with the shawarma so good. I will be eating there every time I'm in town.

Just stared working in MH and needed a quick lunch so I thought I'd drive downtown and hunt. Spotted a cute A-Frame on the street with a parking spot right in front. Two men greeted me kindly. The one who later introduced himself as "Art" was a charming guy. He chatted me up, and I sensed sincerity. We talked about family and he pointed out pics of his beautiful wife and son on the wall. I ordered the beef and lamb shewarmy (so?) to go. He asked me if I wanted "spicy" and I said I'd take it with me to try in case it was too spicy. It wasn't, it was delish as well as the wrap. I will return for these reasons in order of importance to me: He cordially invited me to, the food was good, place clean and cute, convenient. Not cheap btw, but I'm picky and good people and food are worth it to me.

Why has it taken me so long to try this place? Shared a chicken shawarma, medium spice, hummus, dolmas and falafel balls. All were mmmmm, mmm good. The shawarma was served with some extra spicy sauce on the side, that was just the perfect amount of heat. The hummus was creamy and a little lemony, which was a refreshing chaser after the spicy schwarma. Never had a bad dolmas and the falafel balls had a nice flavor and were served piping hot with a side of tahini sauce. Ample seating outside. None inside. On a hot day, I recommend getting your food to go. This particular day we dined in and it was sooooo hot. I'm sure I would have enjoyed my meal more had the weather been cooler. Good food and good service. I will definitely be back.

Some of the best Mediterranean I have ever had. Try some of the salads they have in the showcase too. Veggie platter is awesome. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was the seating which is all outside. I wished I lived closer.

I've come here a bunch of times and every time it's been fantastic! I got the chicken wrap, and garlic fries super good! My husband ordered the chicken Kabab, and he loved it! The owner is super nice, he chatted with us, and even gave us some dipping sauce for free and insisted we try it! Delicious. Will defiantly be back

4 stars only because it's not closer to where I live Growing up I never ate falafel from a restaurant or even the typical food trucks. It as always the fried chickpea balls my mom made in a pita pocket with a bunch of toppings, and that was definitely my favorite childhood meal. The first time I ate it from a vendor was a couple years back and it was awful so I had come to the conclusion that something just taste better made at home, and falafels were one of those. Until.... My aunt brought me here for lunch, I was a little hesitant but I decided to just take her word for it because it's her recipe my mom uses. We ordered spicy falafel pita wraps and garlic fries. That first bite of the wrap was so good, almost like a flash back to when I was younger. The falafels were perfect fried enough to be crisp but still soft enough to bite into, the harissa sauce wasn't too spicy, the tahini sauce was the right amount of tart, and you could tell the tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh. The garlic fries were really good too remember how crisp McDonalds fries used to be? Think of those half the oil half the salt and smothered in seasoned fresh garlic...AMAZING. I will definitely make this my go-to pit stop when going south. I really wish there was one near the Bay Area, O'well looks like I have another reason to go visit my aunt! ;)

The food is almost average. I have visited this place and ordered shish kebab. The portions were too little and too pricy. I have tried other mid-eastern restaurants located right in beach areas w/ better quality food and paid 1/2 of what this place charges. For an average meal 2 people will end paying $40 or more for just an average plate 1/2 filling. It is extremely expensive for too little. This place is surely in need of some improvements. The place small and too noisy. I do not recommend this place. Thanks

Had the kefta kabob wrap at the recommendation of one of the workers. It was pretty great. They also had homemade baklava which was incredible. (See the picture attached)

  • Bassy D.

Had the shawarma wrap. The meat was rubbery. Either the spicy sauce masked the flavor, or the meat had no flavor. I ate half couldn't finish it - threw the rest away. Which was painful because the wrap cost over $8. Srsly? I don't know what brand of bananas the other reviewers were smoking when they ate here and later gave 4/5 star ratings. This place is not good. Maybe other things are good. I'll never know, because I'm not going back.

Unfortunately was dissapointed. We ordered chicken & lamb shawarmas. The wraps were a bit burnt/overcooked. The lamb portions were small, was expecting larger more fresh pieces as found in a gyro. My wife had the chicken & had to add more hot sauce for flavor. We did go late on a Sunday night, not sure if that impacted our food quality.

Never have I felt so strongly that I've needed to review it from the PARKING LOT. I wish I had come here a long time ago, I now have my go-to eatery in Morgan Hill. Shawarma that can only be described as "sublime". Clam chowder at a falafel joint? Don't think about it, just get a bowl and enjoy. No sourdough needed, the chips it comes with are perfect, and the flavor of the chowder itself is like no other.

On our way down to the Gilroy outlets this past Saturday, I relied on Yelp to help my boyfriend and I find a lunch spot en route. You pretty much can't go wrong with some delicious Meditteranean food on a cloudy chilly day. Mr. Falafel fit the bill perfectly. The owner himself was there to greet us and take our order at the counter. He very genuinely said "welcome to my place" and thanked us for stopping by, as well as striking up a conversation about where we were from and chatting a bit about the drive down to Morgan Hill from Walnut Creek. Super nice guy with obvious pride in his business! Anyway, now for the important stuff! Seating is limited inside, maybe 2 or 3 tables. However, outside there were a few more and it can be a great spot to sit and people watch on perhaps a nicer day. We lucked out with a table inside. The locals must know this place is the business!! There was a steady stream of people coming in to order, even at the later lunch hour of 1-2. Again the owner was super friendly with each group and seemed to remember details about them from prior visits. Extra stars for his extreme pride in all they do here! FOOD WAS AMAZING! I am going to make a bold statement and say this was the best hummus I've had in the Bay Area/Northern california. It was certainly plentiful with my falafel plate and the perfect consistency of cream but not too "chalky" like hummus can sometimes be. It was all fresh and plenty of flavor. The falafel patties were also perfection-made fresh to order and delightfully crisp on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned just right. My boyfriend got the chicken kabob platter that came with rice and salad. I haven't eaten meat in about 15 years and I can honestly say this was the most delicious looking chicken ever-I was tempted to try a bite. As others have mentioned these portions are for sharing. We had leftovers to go and it was an all around exceptional experience. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't pass it by. Mr. Falafel is the real deal and worth a stop in! If you're a local, they also have a frequent buyer card where you can collect stamps. I'm not down this way often, but next time I am, I plan on stopping by!

Great find thanks to Yelp! DH and I were coming home on long trip from NV and needed some place that was good food but quick. Saw this and pulled in. Lucked out in that we got a parking spot in the back and the inside table tho Monterey was quiet when we were there. The food was yummy and we look forward to going again, the next time we are nearby!

I got a falafel, it was pretty good. Really hot inside but the weather was nice outside. The service is pleasant. I thought that there wasn't enough sauce on mine though. The price is good. I would have ordered a shwarma instead though, but my friend was treating me out, had I known she was ordering a shwarma as well, I would have gotten that :(.

I was excited to visit this spot, after reading all the great reviews, but wish I would have driven Santa Cruz for a gyro. First customer service: let's just say that "Mr Falafel" was a little too friendly with my fiancé. Made us both feel rather uncomfortable with his obnoxiously repeated "sweethearts"/"darlings"/ and such complements/references(very off putting for our first visit, and not a good way to start our meal)... I mean, it's a falafel hut, not a dive bar. Now, onto the food...we ordered a shwarma, chicken shwarma, and a dozen falafel. My first question was "how spicy is your hot sauce in the shwarma" his reply "pffft, are you kidding me?!..it's just a nice kick." BULL****!!! I would have rather eaten a jalapeño burrito!! For $7.95, I would consider it waste of money, being that I only ate half of it. Other than the spice, you can only taste the rough gristle lamb/beef (they had a raw hunk of meat on kabob..guessing I got the odds and ends.) The chicken shwarma was not spicy at all, although we ordered both with spice(probably for the better) ands for the dozen falafel on the side, they were a little too moist but flavorful. Now onto the drinks: 2 Lagunitas IPA(domestic beer) for $6 a bottle (only $12.99 a 12 pack...) Needless to say, we will never visit this place again.

Went here for a co-workers B-day lunch. I am not a falafel fan, but the Greek salad I had was great. My co-workers all had Shawarma's which they were happy with. I did hear from them that the "spicy" wasn't really too spicy fyi.

Delicious! I love that this is a quick place to grab a bite to eat. The service is really fast. Tables can be somewhat limited, and I'd recommend sitting outside since the 1 or 2 tables inside can be super warm. The falafel is flavorful, and is the perfect consistency. Not too dry and not too moist. The shwarma was also flavorful and not dry. Their spicy sauce is definitely on the spicier side, so be warned (but I also don't have a high spice tolerance). Price is reasonable and the food was very filling!

  • Dominic G.

Simply delicious and fresh! If you have been here then you can agree that it always tastes fresh and consistenly so. The wraps are all made to order and I sure don't mind waiting since it never disappoints! The amount of care goes without saying, as the quality of the meats, grilled veggies, and the fresh salad bar area are visually stellar and quite obviously prepared daily. My assistant adds, the cucumber/feta salad is to die for! With large chunks of tomato, cucumber, artichoke, olives and feta that are perfectly seasoned and marinated with the flavors of the Middle East. She loves it more than I! The patio seating is a great place to enjoy your freshly made meal under the Morgan Hill sunny skies. Enjoy! P.S Keep in mind that they appreciate a debit/credit charge of 10.00 or higher. So in other words, anything under 10.00 have some cash on hand, not a huge deal though.

This place is very small but great! I agree with the other reviews about the amazing garlic fries(that's what got me to order them). Wonderfully-sized portions for not a bad price if you get multiple things. Their hot sauce/salsa is NOOOO joke!!! I've always had a low tolerance for spice which has slowly been turning around, but so glad I got it on the side or my tummy would've exploded. The woman at the front is very helpful and calculated our orders out loud, which I like(shows honesty). The cook showed me the size of their wrap-it's the equivalent of a big burrito-and we ate under the hanging LCD TV, which wasn't intrusive. The workers periodically shouted ingredients and food orders to each other to make sure they had certain things readily available (another thing I like-consistent communication that you can actually hear). Really nice experience and great food; definitely won't mind another visit. :)

"'Does anybody feel like shawarma? I feel like some shawarma" -- Iron Man, The Avengers Now you do not have to be a Billionaire Philantropist Playboy Super Hero to enjoy what Mr Falafel has to offer (And really, a well-traveled wealthy dude living in NYC does not know what Shawarma is? Funny ending line but I'm not buying it). You can be, let's say, the mild-mannered funny dude cleaning up Morgan Hill's housing programs and still enjoy the items here. That includes a very good Shawarma, either chicken or beef. There is also a Yelp deal for $11.99 which includes plate meal, drink and dessert or the online special which is $10.95 for Sandwich + Fries + Drink. The spicy salsa is the perfect addition to the plate meals and the baklava I had here was very good. There is more seating outside than inside so on those cold, drizzly days..definitely more of a takeout place. Unlike some of the other restaurants in town this family owns, sodas here are served by the can...no refills! :( This is an excellent, tiny Mom n Pop serving very satisfying fare at decent prices. Recommended!

I've been going to this place for 2 yrs. now & absolutely LOVE it. Love the falafel's, kale salad, humus & pita chips, baklava, & shwarma. I also love that I can just get my little kids corn dogs (cause they have boring palettes) while us with more mature pallets can enjoy the good stuff. It's a tiny little triangle of a place but it has outdoor seating & I'm glad to grab & go. Everything seems clean & fresh, plus the employees are nice. I'm glad to be a new regular.

Bunk. All I thought as I was eating a (lamb) shawarma, noticing every bite was steak sirloin. Stop calling your place Mr. Falafel, more like Kinda falafel. Don't be cheap and fill up your wraps. All veggies, barely any meat. And it's not even what it's suppose to be. Is rather drive 30 miles before coming back. If you care about the food you eat, then try and find an authentic falafel house. For everyone that gives high reviews, you must cook most your meals out of a microwave.

I love Mr. Falafel, I really do! Ever since my family and I discovered this wonderful gem, we try to frequent it as often as we can. We had filled up one of their frequent buyer's card and the lady working the register is SO NICE! Our first time there Mr Falafel himself helped us out and we really enjoy their service! I love getting their shawarma wrap, extra spicy because it's delicious! The lamb is perfectly cooked and seasoned, as well as their chicken (in the chicken shawarma). We had also tried one of their nut bar things (I don't remember what they're called) and it's so good!! Their other sides are just as great, especially the tabbouleh. The prices are great for the portions you receive! My family and I will definitely keep coming back :)

If you're vegan or vegetarian, come to this place. There are lots of option, the guys working here are super nice and not judgey about veg options. The wife and I chowed on some falafel and hummus wraps, garlic fries and beers for about $20...score.

I had the lamb and chicken kabob combo with rice and house salad. The food was very tasty and delicious. It was fresh and they cook it right then and there as I am ordering so the food was fresh. They had nice customer service and suggested different dips for the meat so that was interesting and tasty! They have one seating area inside and 5 tables outside. The outside area is nice for sunny days. I would give them a five star if they had clean table sheets because there were some stains on the table. Nicer tables and chairs would have created a nicer ambience. The food and service was aMazing!

  • Sharon D.

Food here is so delicious. Only reason it doesn't get a five star is because its basically a hole in the wall type place. Its in one of those odd '60s era triangle buildings, a few tables outside and one (?) inside. But that said its clean, service is good and did I say food is delicious. We've had falafel/kabab plates, wraps and schwarmas all awesome.

This review is a bit late, I accompanied my boyfriend on a work trip up to Morgan hill and we were looking for a bite to eat for lunch one day and thought to try Mr. Falafel out and let me tell you it was the best choice we ever made in Morgan Hill. If Mr. Falafel himself is there TAKE HIS SUGGESTIONS they are DELICIOUS. I had the Falafel wrap with feta cheese added to it and Mmm Mmm mm. Eleventy thumbs up and 2 snaps up in a Z formation, my highest rating.

  • Rachel V.

This place is always busy and I have no clue why. It's WAY overpriced and the falafels just suck. I've had MUCH better elsewhere. You won't be able to get condiments like ketchup and tahini, etc because no one can help you because it's so busy (once again, no idea why- I tried it one time and I will not be back). Falafels were dry, with barely any lettuce/tomato no cucumber, just a tiny drizzle of tahini. Lame. And like $8 a pop. For overcooked falafel balls and a cold pita wrap, not even heated!! And not soft, like stale. I got a vitamin water, two falafels and garlic fries and that cost me $25. Like seriously?? I can get the same thing with better quality at the place in san jose for like $15. $8 for garlic fries??? we're like THIS CLOSE to Gilroy aka the garlic capital of the world. Garlic and potatoes shouldn't cost that much, c'mon! And it wasn't even a lot of fries! Have fun spending like $30+ for two cruddy falafels and a side of fries each and cokes. Normally I'm balanced on my reviews, but this is the kind of thing that I'm sure everyone who orders falafels here will experience.

Had high hopes for a tasty shawarma, but the meat off the spinner was tough and the shell was a dryish lavash. I had to spit a few sinewy pieces if meat out, which I don't think I ever did before since the spinner meat is chopped and pressed. They should cut the meat thinner and maybe heat it in a pan the way Yiassoo does. My wife got the falafel, which tasted pretty good, but maybe the oil was not fresh. Had a halvah for dessert, which was not so good either. Both of us has mild stomach aches after. Service was friendly and she accommodated my requests for shawarama customizations without resentment.

I was craving Mediterranean food and since my friend lived in Gilroy this was the closest choice. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a guy chomping on food while sitting in a chair in front of the register. I thought it was a little unprofessional to be eating in front of customers but whatever.... I've been to MANY Mediterranean places as its my favorite so i'm always scoping out the places. One thing i didn't like was how the side dishes were kept in a refrigerated cooler on display by the register this included hummus, Tabbouleh Salad, Baba Ganoush, etc... the food just looked like it had been there overnight. Oh well i thought, i was hungry and we were already there. I ordered the chicken kabob plate which came with rice which was very yellow it almost scared me to eat it. The food was good but the kitchen area and staff seemed sketchy, there were even young kids preparing food in the back/cleaning. It almost felt unsanitary.... I guess im just picky?

Amazing food, the hummus will go beyond your expectations. The service was very quick and the food was very well prepared. The customer service is exceptionally friendly and fast. What can I say, I am a Falafel newb. I was sent here by one of my business offices to pick up to-go orders for lunch. Got in before the lunch rush and was able to get "educated" by Betsy on the fine art of what a falafel is and how they are made. Even got a tasty sample. Totally awesome, helpful and informative. The staff was great. The office loved everything, the food was excellent and I can't wait until I'm back in the area to try them out again. The portions are huge and they have a number of different items to try including kabobs and even burgers. But seriously, try the falafel, its great.

I wanted to fall in love with Mr. Falafel. I really did. But we're just friends, and that's ok. I was hoping that Mr. Falafel was "the One" for a few reasons. I like anyone whose name begins with Mr. (ie. Mr. Peanut, Mr. Taco, Mr. Mister). I haven't found a good falafel yet in the Bay Area and I was hoping that this was it; my search was over. However, it wasn't meant to be. We're still cool, but it isn't love. First, let me extoll his virtues. The pita was good. It was the proper texture and thickness. I don't want to wrap my lips around a bad pita. The sandwich was filled with falafel, lettuce, tomato, cucumber sauce and hot sauce. You can add hummus for a little extra. Also, the hummus was awesome. It was homemade, thick, creamy with a lot of garlic. There are also homemade chips you can eat with the hummus that are amazing as well. In addition, I ordered garlic fries that were hot, fresh and loaded with tasty garlic. However, Falafel was pretty dry and flavorless in my opinion. He didn't have that oomph, the personality that I'm looking for. His wrap was messy and got all over my hands. It came with both tzatziki and "hot sauce" (like that damn Falafel's drive-in in San Jose) but it wasn't enough. I did add hummus but it was still dry. The balance was off. Alas.... I talked Mr. Falafel's owner. He's a nice guy who said that he's Palestinian but must have lived in the US for a long time since he didn't have an accent. I talked to him for a while and he gave me free hummus and chips. We talked about a variety of topics. The interior is small, as in tiny. I bet there are only 3 tables. There are normally outdoor tables but it's been raining here for a week straight. I imagine this is mostly a "wham, bam, thank you, Mr. Falafel" type establishment that caters to the lunch crowd. Everything seemed really clean and organized. I don't know when I'll have a chance to visit Mr. Falafel. He lives a good distance away from me and I don't often make it to his neck of the woods. Perhaps, like past flings and other long lost friends, we'll just chat occasionally on Facebook. Regardless, of my encounter with Mr. Falafel, I have not given up hope. I'm still on the search for "the One". I'm sure he's out there...somewhere....

I was traveling south on 101 last night and needed to grab a quick bite...thanks to Yelp, I found Mr. Falafel in Morgan Hill! As I entered this tiny little A-frame building which sits roadside on ole Monterey Highway, I was greeted by a very friendly young lady who took my order, and explained some of their menu items to me. I ordered a Shawarma (about $8 if I remember correctly) and boy did it hit the spot! If I am traveling past Morgan Hill again and need to grab a quick meal, I will definitely be back, but will probably try their Falafel next time!

This is the best place to eat in downtown Morgan Hill. Without a doubt. Super fresh ingredients and the salads are made fresh everyday. The staff are all very friendly. It's my new goto place.

More like 3.5 stars. The chicken kabob platter had a very generous portion (2 skewers of white meat and vegetables with rice and salad) and tasted very good. I thought the falafel and meat (lamb/beef) shawarma were so-so, a little on the bland side for me. The owners were very friendly, and the restaurant itself offers a nice, casual dining alternative in the Morgan Hill area.

  • Erik D.

I've been here only once, but it was a very good experience. This small place seems to have plenty of great items on the menu for lunch or dinner. I had a meatball sandwich that I believe was a special at the time. Good size for the price, and very tasty. Absolutely no complaints. The staff inside were extremely friendly as well. If I'm ever in the area, I would gladly return.

We had the falafel and the filling was delicious, but we had it in the pita. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Take the flatbread! The pita was dry and they actually had the guts to serve us a pita that was completely fallen apart and we couldn't pick it up. It was a huge mess! I am only giving the three stars because the filling was so good. Fail Mr. Falafel...

This could be my newest favorite place in the bay area! The shawarma wrap was moist and tasty. To complement it, I ordered a small serving of hummus with spiced pita chips. Top it off with a large bottle of juice and I had a feast - all for $12 and change. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service was delightful. I'll be back!

I'm Back! (Yelping wise) Alright this has got to be one of the BEST Shawarmas I've ever tasted. I mean I've been on the east coast and Canada, and I've tried many during my vacation. Just the crispiness of the wrap and how all the flavors just mix well together. I haven't tried most of their menu items but I've tried their fries. Their seasoned fries are alright, but If it were me, try other foods than getting "what's comfortable." It's worth a shot. When I went, I had a different experience than most, the service was okay, you can tell they were very family oriented. Plus it's right in the heart of Downtown Morgan Hill. Grab a falafel walk around and enjoy the environment. The building is almost like a little hut, so it gets cramped inside. They have chairs & tables set outside, but if it were me, just head out and walk around. Peace out. Don't worry, I'll be bringing my yelping 'A' game once I brush out the cobwebs. Seriously. Bye. No, seriously. Bye.

I'm a huge lover of anything falafel! Since we have nothing in the way of Mediterranean food in Watsonville (ROFL), my manicurist recommended this tiny little place. So right before New Year's we took a drive through downtown Morgan Hill and stopped for lunch. All the Christmas decorations were still up and it was a sunny day so we sat out on the sidewalk seating area. Really close to the street but it wasn't a busy traffic day. The first time I had the Chicken Shawarma: nicely marinated chicken with onions, parsley, cucumber, and tomatoes & tahini (hold the spicy sauce on mine) tightly wrapped in lavash that is also grilled, like a paninni, before serving. The second time, just after New Year's we made a special trip to Morgan Hill just to eat at Mr. Falafel. This time I had the regular falafel but forgot to ask for the pita bread. Well, let me tell you, who needs pita bread? Wrapped in lavash is next to heaven! No messy sauce running down your arms or pita bread self-destructing before you can get it in your mouth. We also ordered a side of seasoned, crazy-good, lavash chips. The "side" came in a huge plastic pita bread bag and was enough to serve at a party! It took us a week to finish at home (with hummus of course). The owner's were friendly and welcoming and came out to the sidewalk to ask if we enjoyed our meal and would we like anything else. The mean comments about Art were totally uncalled for. His sense of humor is HIM, he doesn't mean to be rude, it's HIM. Reminds me of my late older brother: you either liked his humor or you hated it. Everybody is different (thank god). We'll definitely be going back to support this great little eatery!

Great service, good food and fair prices. Date night was complete with this for dinner. My husband and I took the food to go and were very pleased by the portions we were served. We have been to other middle eastern restaurants and were very disappointed by the texture of the hummus, the grittiness of the the other dishes and the soggy or rock hard pita. We were pleased and will be returning.

One of my favorite restaurants in Morgan Hill - when I visit from WA I always make sure to stop here. Friendly, tasty,

Discovered this tiny food find gem while on biz trip to Morgan Hill. The chicken shawarma is so delish. Luv that Tahini sauce. Friendly service at counter. Will definitely be back.

This was my first and last time I will ever come to this place! The food is good but have had better, the service on the other hand was just poor. I placed my order for a lamb kabob and the girl taking the order stated that they had ran out, so I ordered a beef kabob instead. The person behind me also wanted the lamb kabob and guess what? They made 2 orders for him! They pulled out a container filled with lamb and said that they would make it for him. My kids and I were right there an the guy even looked at me and said "didn't you order that too?". Wow, not even a sorry or let me change your order to a lamb kabob! Will never go there again!

I have eaten in this little place three times. It has nice middle eastern bytes and meals. It is not very costly and can be a fast food substitute. Last time the kebab was somewhat chewy. I like people who work there. They take your order, you pay and they bring the food out to you. It is kind of a popular place. Try it if you like falafel and kebab.

Not bad, but not my favorite. Working up in Sunnyvale, I eat lunch at Dish N Dash pretty often, for about the same price, and I like the food a lot better. My wife loves this place, but I usually give it a pass.

Wish they had something similar closer to my home. The food and the service here is superb. There isn't much seating area, but if you're looking for a great place to go with a small group or have an incredible take-out experience this is the place to go. What I love about this place is that they not only have healthy portions but they use quality ingredients. Considering it's what many would consider a fast take-away joint...surprisingly the food actually rivals most fancy sit-down eateries. Garlic Fries: 5 stars...WOW...had to give a rating on this 'cuz I was shocked with how good these were Chicken Schwarma with Rice: Incredible...kids loved it and so did I

Large portions, good quality food, and excellent salsa. Recommended. Good service, and the owner seems like a tough guy, but has a big heart and good sense of humor. Don't be fooled and have fun with it.

My wife and I had a chance to try Mr Falafel today while cruising through during Taste Of Morgan Hill. I've become a real lover of Mediterranean food in the past few years, and have been meaning to try Mr Falafel. We decided to try the Falafel Sandwich on lavash. A few moments later, our order was ready... and it was freaking DELICIOUS!! The falafel balls were so tasty, the veggies super fresh and crisp, and the sauce just spicy enough. This may be my new spot - I actually liked it more than Drive In and Dish-N-Dash. I'm getting the Shwarma next time - can't wait!

Two words: PITA CHIPS. My family and I came here randomly one day by looking at Yelp reviews of this place. It is quite a small little hut with only 1 table to sit inside. There are a few tables outside to sit on a nice day but I wouldn't bring a large party here. There was a short line when we arrived and the person who took our order was very nice. We waited quite a while for our order and I was watching the cooks cook the food and they are the most inefficient cooks I had ever seen but eventually got our order out. The shawarma was quite good but not super spectacular. But the best part about this place is their freshly made pita chips and hummus. After my first bite I literally imagined that I was on that show The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Those pita chips must have crack in them. I seriously could not stop eating them until I was overly full. Still, that night, I was working late and I craved the taste and texture of those pita chips!!! Good thing I got an extra bag! munch munch munch...

Went yesterday. Was on my way somewhere and I saw a sign for Shawarma. I brake for Shawarma. My friend and I ordered the Combo sampler plate, a Falafel Salad, and Shawarma for me. We had arrived at around 5:30 PM and had the place to ourselves (not unusual for most restaurants on a Monday). Portion sizes were excellent +1 star. Service was friendly +1 star. Art the owner came by, made sure everything was ok personaly, and gave us tips on how to enhance our experience next time. Location was good, seating is a bit limited. Maybe total 12-15 total chairs or so. The Shawarma was excellent (one of the best I've had, if not the best so far-I got it w/the spicy sauce), The Falafel was good, (2nd best--Falafel Drive-In still is tops in the Falafel championship) it had good texture, and great flavor. The sampler plate had Dolmas, Tabouleh salad, Baba Ganoush, Hummus, a veggie salad, and a dry, firm Feta like cheese. Dolmas-excellent, good flavor, good texture. Baba Ganoush-different from what I've usualy had. Texture was a bit stringy and the color and flavor lacked the roastedness I'm used to in a Baba Ganoush. Hummus was good but a tad on the runny side of what I'm used to. Tabouleh Salad was good, but very vegetable based, I'm used to more bulgar presence, also I'm used to a more citrus and herbaciousness from Tabouleh (Sargonis in San Jose is a good metric of my idea of Tabouleh). Overall, even if alot of things were different what I've experienced in the past (perhaps due to a regional difference/flavor from what I'm used to) Mr. Falafel is an excellent local establishment to have a meal. I'll be back Art, and I'm bringing friends!

We stopped in after a trip to Gilroy. The owner was very friendly and gave us some super pita chips and the best hummus I'd ever had. Perfect bite of lemon. He also offered to cut both our pitas in half and put the hot sauce on the side so we could share it! We had the falafel and the chicken shawarma. The falafel was excellent, fresh made and bright green inside. We had the deluxe which meant eggplant and potatoes too, although my half had almost neither of the two. The shawarma was not nearly as good...I should have gotten the Kafta instead, which looked great. The portions a bit on the small side. Unfortunately service after ordering was really slow so we had to wait a while to get our order, as the place got very crowded while we were waiting and it got a bit chaotic. Worth a stop!

I found this spot very cozy. We were looking for a place to have dinner and the weather was finally cooling off. This place hit the spot. The outdoor seating was very nice and the service topped the charts. The owner was very inviting and very helpful. I am a fan of Mediterranean food and this small restaurant had been on my radar for a while. The chicken shawarma was good. Their falafel was also tasty. I would suggest them both. I did not try the other items on the menu but will update this review when I do.

I sent my boyfriend on a mission to bring me back lunch while I was at work and advised him, ...please no McDonald's or Shit-potle! I was expecting just another average fast food joint, but then he introduced me to Mr. Falafel! He came back with a Meditarranean Combo Plate, a big bag of fresh pita chips, garlic fries, and a lamb shawarma. Holy moly gee wizzz,. he brought enough food that could feed a meaty family of four! Who does he think I am? A monstrous pig that could gobble up a whole animal farm or what?!?! Anyways, first bite into each of the items felt like I just took a bite off of a million bucks. It was THAT good! All of the spices complimented each of the ingredients perfectly and the best part is everything was made fresh! Mission complete and I am one happy pig! :)

I'm so glad I discovered this place! The food is really delicious and prepared just right--flavorful falafel, delicious homemade(I think) lavash bread, perfect baba ganoush, and yummy tabouli. One note: the baklava is sometimes amazing, and sometimes just okay. They do serve beer as well. Also, I can recommend them for their catering. They catered a vegetarian meal for our community of 80 people and it was a great experience. The lentil dish with grilled onions was recommended and turned out to be a big hit, and the total price for everything was reasonable. AND, they did it on short notice and with a very friendly attitude. Overall, a very positive experience.

After a good experience the first time around, I got helped by the owner who is very loud and rude to most customers who walk in. He yells at everyone and this time took forever to get my order ready(30+ mins) kabob was ok but very expensive, I think he over charged me but I didn't want to argue with him. Customer service is key.

I once thought this place was awesome. But now, and the more I go, between the shouting matches of the owner and whoever walks in front of his place, the attitude just stinks. Plus, this place is really starting to go downhill fast. It is my opinion that the Owner should find other work where he can noodle at teenage girls walking by and shout his mire mouth at subordinates someplace else. Oh, wait a minute, that place doesn't exist. Well guess what, either does me going back there to eat. I consider this place about as vile and mouth filthy as an ashtray with a stink like whiskey and sweaty feet. It's all about making people feel comfortable so they "want" to eat at your place because they feel safe, welcomed and warm. All I feel when I go there now is will I become a victim of a drive-by because the a-hole owners mouth made someone mad. No thanks, I'll go somewhere else. Oh, and the foods not that great either anymore.

Hands down the best falafel wrap and chicken shawarma wrap!!! And excellent service too. We were sitting outside in the car after placing the order and the host said she would bring the food out to the car since we had a baby in the car. Also, it's a quaint little fast food place!

    * No free water. Bring it or buy a bottle. * Good entrees (Shawarma, falafel) * Garlic fries were bland and lacked texture. (Fries with chopped garlic, not true garlic fries) Skip them and get more falafel! * Limited seating. The manager (owner?) was friendly to me but surly to others, including his own family. +4 for the entrees , -1 for no water and bad fries, -1 for service. Take it to go...

Wow, Can't say enough good things about this place. Falafel was fresh and tasty. Cucumbers were crisp. The hummus was just the right kind of spicy. Grilled to perfection. The cool little retro shack was clean and inviting. Super friendly service too!

Trying to get our falafel fix, my boyfriend and I went 15 mins before closing one night only to walk right out after taking a look and a smell around. We could SMELL that a worker (probably the owner) had just smoked a cigarette and the thought the place was a bit shabby looking so we decided to go hungry instead rather than take a risk of getting sick. We went back yesterday to give it another shot. The owner was extremely friendly and humorous but that didn't make up for the sub-par falafel that took 20 mins to bring out to us. The wrap was way too crispy (like a cracker) and there was way too much tahini sauce. I didn't even taste any of the chili sauce inside. Also, we would have appreciated the outdoor umbrella shade been set up already for us costumers instead having to do it ourselves while trying to stay out of the heat... especially if we had to wait that long for a falafel.

Falafel rocks and unlike the over popular falafel places in san jose you can eat it with your hands, it wont self destruct as soon as you pick it up. The onion rings are some of the best i have had in a looooooong time. Waite staff is super friendly which goes a long way in my book. Just found my new favorite south of south bay place - I will be back !

I waited a long time to finally visit this place and was well worth the wait! I didn't prepare anything for dinner so I asked the Hubby if he wanted to try Mr. Falafel, so off we went. FYI: We are big fans of Falafel Drive-In in SJ (for many years now) so our expectations were quite high. We were welcomed by Mr. Falafel himself, Art. He gave his suggestions and we went with it. He came out often to see how we liked our food. He chatted with us for a bit and told us the story of how he found this place. He gets 5 stars as well! Let's talk about the food...2 thumbs up! The Falafels are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. You can taste the freshness of those brown little balls (no pun intended). The Shawarma...it was delish! I'm not a big fan of lamb but with beef mixed in it, I found that it didn't have the after taste of the lamb. Their servings are definitely bigger than Falafel Drive-In. Less messier too...I like the way they wrap their "sandwiches". Dear Hubby liked everything (and ate everything!). This place is most definitely a nice addition to downtown MH. We will no longer make the long hike to SJ whenever we're craving Falafels. 2 miles away from home and Mr. Falafel is ready to satisfy our cravings!

I have been wanting to try this place ever since I noticed it driving through down town morgan hill. When walking into Mr. Falafel, I am immediately hit by the heat and smell of cooking meat. What an excellent way to greet customers. I ordered the Schwarma over rice with Tabbouleh salad and pita bread. I took it to go since it seemed extremely cramped inside, but there was seating outside. Although the schwarma was a little dry, I could over look it considering how delicious the meat was. The schwarma was very flavorful, the rice was cooked just perfectly and mixed with some sauce, and the tabbouleh salad tasted fresh. I honestly cant wait to go to this place again.

This is a review of my lunch on 2/3/12.... This is a "hole-in-the-wall", in that it's not large and has about one table inside a few on the outside sidewalk. The food took a few minutes to cook up, but not excessive at all for a cooked-to-order lunch. I tried the deluxe falafel- I had scanned a couple of reviews here and saw it recommended so... being a falafel fan I thought I'd give it a try. Big Disappointment. Maybe I should have read the reviews or the menu more closely and, if so, my bad. The falafel came wrapped in a FLOUR TORTILLA, and was shaped and wrapped like a burrito. I overcame my initial, "huh?" and decided to give it a try- I'm open to something other than pita and what I'm used to. Really, I am. Uh huh, No go. The falafel balls were not greasy (good) but they were very dry and not seasoned much at all (bad). And there were only two. There was lettuce and unskinned cucumbers inside (ok), but here were also chunks of Potato! (not ok). The sesame sauce was mild and not much flavor. I felt like I had not-the-best aspects of a burrito and falafel combined. So..... I DO plan to come back and try other dishes, and this time I'll read more reviews and the menu and go for something that everyone really really likes... and hopefully I can up the rating on this one next time.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the owner. He's the type of guy that's jokes around with you, has an attitude, but it's all good fun. If you can't take a joke, maybe you should avoid him. ha! He was really cared that i got the best shawarma. I asked him about the onions, but i don't normally like onions.. and he told me not to get them b/c he wanted to make sure i enjoyed my Shawarma. We sat outside and got handed our shawarma's. Mine read "no onions". I bit into this burrito looking thing and my taste buds were awaken by all these different flavors. This was the first time trying Mediterranean food. The meat melts in your mouth and the lamb/beef mix was perfect. The sauce we got was spicy and it was just the right hint of spice. The owner came out and asked how my food was and i told him it was delicious... then i looked at him.. "i think the one that said 'no onions' has onions!" It was so good, i didn't even realize the onions were there till i was 1/2 way through. I'd definitely come back here. The atmosphere is chill and laid back and the staff genuinely cares about their customers. We came around dinner time and it was a little busy, so expect to take your food to go if there's no seating outside.

Pros: The falafel wrap was quite tasty Cons: Limited dining tables. Some sidewalk tables, but not good on a hot day. Maybe I'm just living in the old days, but it seemed a bit pricey. A lunch special at a walk-up counter shouldn't cost $12. 3 stars if considering price and atmosphere. 4 stars just based on food.

I've been to this place two times; the 1st time it was because I wanted to try it out, I love falafels, and the 2nd time was to see if they improved. Well, I was disappointed , I know middle eastern food and this was sub par . I'm fortunate to work around Santa Clara where there are more options. The only memorable food was the garlic fries which is why I'm giving 2 stars.

The owner, I'm assuming is the guy with one leg....he's full of himself. Peg-leg, this is NOT an authentic Mediterranean restaurant. The schwarma was bland and the greek salad was stale and flavorless. The pita chips were nothing to write home about. Matter of fact, Stacy's pita chips from Costco fare much better than this place. The falafels were throat-scratching dry. Not to mention, the prices here are unreasonable. Back to the owner. Please don't refer to wife as Mrs. Prego (pregnant). Sir or Maam will suffice. We're not your friends, we're your customers. Your comment was rude and disrespectful. Also, we could care less your family owns Betsy's restaurant. We don't need to hear how great you think you are. Seriously, get over yourself. For true Mediterranean food and superb serice, please visit Wrap This in Santa Clara. You won't be disappointed. As for Mr. Falafel..its more like Mr F-off. Forget this place.

Been here a few times and the food has never been bad, but there aren't many tables. The garlic fries are made with fresh homegrown parsley and they are very tasty. I've tried the shwarma and falafel wraps and loved both. A few dollars more than other falafel places in san jose, but very close to the quality I've previously experienced.

First time trying Mr. Falafel today and wow was I surprised. Not only is this the best mediterranean food ive had in a while but also a lot of food for a decent price. I had the shawarma, garlic fries and hummis w/ pita. All of it was soooo good. And now i literally have food for the next 2 days. Super yummy. Also the owner is a very nice guy and delivered the food to me himself. I give this place two thumbs up and my stomach is very happy (:

NEVER GO HERE. its too expensive and the owner is rude. FIRST TIME- im not one to try new things... ever. but i had a "burrito" or whatever from this place. i specifically asked that it not be spicy and guess what it was spicy. SECOND TIME- i went to pick up lunch for a friend. i ordered and paid way too much then sat inside texting. the what im going to assume is the owner (since hes always there and never does anything) proceeded to argue with the guy making my food why he didnt go get change for the register. they guy said that it was busy and he was the only one there... the argument got kinda heated and the owner was calling out the guy making my food. i was soooo uncomfortable. the owner didn't even bat an eyelash that this whole thing was going on right in front of my eyes. i figured since the owner wasnt doing anything besides bitching at the dude making my food he could have went to go get the change. the guy gave me an extra order of falafels and apologized for the owner making a scene. before that happened i was considering taking my out of town family there... but nope. never again... oh and the owner refers to himself as "the one legged lover." he carved it into the freshly poured cement when the place first opened. if this is supposed to be a family place thats just gross.

We were passing through heading down to LA on the 101 and needed to find something for dinner. Yelped Morgan Hill and found this little place. First, if you look up Hole in the Wall in a dictionary they have a pic of this place. Two tables inside and a couple on the patio. No matter, the food was fresh and delicious and the service super friendly. The only thing that wasn't great was the baklava; was pre-wrapped and tasted a little old. We were back on the road in a half hour and completely satisfied. Great, fun, casual find in downtown Morgan Hill.

Best Salad in Morgan Hill: Chicken Shwarma salad...tomatoes chopped fine, cucumbers chopped fine, tender chicken, tahini sauce perfect, spicy sauce perfect. My wife loves it! It's worth the drive and dealing with Art (the owner). Just think of the Seinfeld Soup Nazi...and then laugh. Lastly, try the triple play...Betsy's for breakfast, Ajay's Cheesesteaks for lunch, and Mr. Falafel for dinner...All owners are related!

Food is OK. I've had much better Mediterranean food elsewhere. In fact, if I had the time I'd rather just make my own. Also, the owner somehow always annoys me, he's just a bit quirky. That being said, I think the prices are fair and I like that they have a delicatessen style window of stuff to look at. Its a very small place with really no seating but, its just a casual little place, not a real sit down Mediterranean meal. They have frequent buyer card which is sorta nice. I've never gone enough times to take advantage.

Want to know the fastest way to kill your lunch business? Make people stand out in the sun, waiting 25 minutes for a falafel, on their lunch hour. You didn't even offer a drink, a couple of dolma, a baklava, something, for the wait. Where were you? Outside smoking. Love the falafels. Becoming less and less pleased with the service.

I had tried this place for the first time recently, my boyfriend and I shared a falafel deluxe and the garlic fries with feta cheese. The food was so delicious! esp the garlic feta fries. The falafel was good, i felt it needed something extra in it however. Other than that, the portions are great and the staff is awesome! ^.*

Went here on a random weekday night. There wasn't a crowd at all so we ordered immediately. Service was friendly and they even came around to our outside table to check on us a couple times. I guess if it is really busy they might not do this. I was very happy with the food quality. I have paid much more for worse falafels elsewhere and the hummus and baba ganoush rival some of the more expensive mediterranean restaurants I frequent! Will definitely be going back for a quick dinner again.

  • Ryan B.

2 things, 1. kinda feel like this place is a bit pricey for what you get, especially the falafel wraps themselves, it seems like they have cut down the portion sizes since they first opened and as such are now falling into "pinner" category 2. the service is rather slow and somewhat overly opinionated when you try to "build your falafel", if I want the hot sauce on the side, don't try to talk me out of it, if I want pita instead of lavash, again, don't try to talk me out of it. I just spent five minutes reading the menu and constructing what I want in my mind, it may not be the way you like it, or what is easy/more profitable for Mr. Falafel, but it is how I would like it.

I have a rule, I wont rate a place until I've gone there 3 times. Everytime I've gone, I tried something new and everything was amazing! This is by far the best Mediterranean spot I've ever been too. I highly recommend: 1. Kefta Kabob (about 8$) 2. Shwarma Wrap (about $8) 3. Shwarma Plate (around $11) It is a bit pricey but it's so good that I found myself not caring about the price, the quality of the food is amazing and is well worth the slight dent in my wallet. My company moved to Morgan Hill, I dreaded the 45 min drive to work everyday but then I remember this place and I realize, hey, its not so bad.

I thought they had good falafels but this place is just too pricey for me. I prefer falafel drive in.

I came here the other day with my BF, who has been here a number of times. He said it was delicious and cheap... and it was!!! We both ordered the falafel deluxe ($7.50 each), NOT spicy. My boyfriend said the spicy one was way too spicy and hurt his tummy when he had it before.. which is surprising because he usually does well with spicy foods. I really don't have much to say except that it was really good and reasonably priced. We waited about 10 minutes for our order. It was fresh, warm, and perfectly wrapped.

The owner sat behind the cash register taking cellphone calls and handling money for the duration of our meal. At no time did he get up, or wash his hands. After we ate our shwarmas, we decided to have some halva for dessert (kept under the glass counter by the register). Without gloves, the owner used two (dirty) fingers to grab our pieces of halva. I was flabbergasted, disgusted, and having worked in food service myself, I am very confused as to how a person who comes from a family who owns restaurants can think it is ok to directly handle prepared food without gloves or washing hands (especially after touching his cellphone, cash register, and his crutches.) I was always told that this was a serious health code violation. I cannot recommend eating here, because there is a good chance you will get sick. (unless the owner changes his ways, and starts using gloves.)

i absolutely adore this falafel place. Not only is it the only falafel place around for miles but its actually DELICIOUS. A bit on the pricey side, but its worth it in my opinion. Especially since Art (the owner) is a total sweetheart! (I ordered: A falafel wrap, spicy, not in a pita. I can't remember what they call the bread. Its like a flat bread )

The food is good. The service never fails to dampen my mood. The owner is the greasy condescending type who greets female patrons with diminutive nicknames. If you don't care for that and don't respond in kind, service gets chilly and dismissive. Dumb on his part, because my regular order was the most expensive thing on the menu. I'd generally do a walk-by and stop in when he's not around. If he wasn't there, I'd have given it five stars.

I love this place! Everyone is always so friendly. I like to order as I'm driving there so it's ready for me when I get there. Anyhow-- the hummus is really good. There's like a hint of lemon in it or something. Super fresh and delicious. I bought a pint and consumed it within a week. Their pita chips are super good too! They make it fresh there and sprinkle it was some kind of seasoning. Not sure what it is again but it's so good!

Shwarma: Best we ever had Hummus: Excellent Chicken Kabob: Best we ever had. Tender white meat. Flavorful. Hot sauce: Amazing Fries: Amazing (seasoned and garlic) We will be back. Will try the falafel next time. Seatings is limited so be prepared to take it home if it's too crowded.

What on earth is a falafel?! I've been meaning to try these suckers for awhile now and I finally did at Mr. Falafel the other day! I was actually looking for a place to grab a quick lunch and I ventured into Mr. Falafel merely because of convenience. Right upon walking into the tiny triangle-shaped building, Art (also known as Mr. Falafel and the owner) and his wife greeted me with huge smiles. It was so very refreshing to know that my visit was genuinely appreciated, you know? That's one of the sole reasons I love frequenting local businesses because, not only do I get quality in terms of food, but I always get excellent and personable customer service too! Franchises and huge corporations just don't really care about their customers as local businesses do! Well anyways, enough of my ranting. I ordered myself a regular falafel sandwich wrapped in pita bread and an order of 1/2 a pint of Greek salad( yelp.com/biz_photos/VhAB… ). The 'sandwich' actually looked like a burrito. It came with plenty of falafel, marinated veggies, tahini, and some spicy sauce. The falafel was surprisingly good. I've never had it before so I had no clue what I was eating. Apparently falafels are balls of either fava beans and/or chickpeas. I think the one I ate was made of fava beans because the inside was green! The spices and flavors were very unique and plentiful! The texture was comparable to a meatball, but there wasn't any meat in it--very cool! What I enjoyed most in the sandwich, was not only the falafel, but the tiny cubed cucumbers, tomatoes, and onion! The extra effort in preparing the vegetables made it very easy to eat the sandwich without the vegetables falling out. The same vegetables were used in the Greek salad, but they were cut into bigger, bulkier cubes. It also included artichoke hearts and feta cheese. The salad was very refreshing and light. It was very well seasoned and had the perfect proportion of vegetables. The only complaint I have about the salad was that the artichoke hearts were a little tough on the outside. You know how artichoke hearts have multiple layers? Well several layers on the outside were a little tough and chewy. I got the opportunity to sample Mr. Falafel's refreshing hummus with seasoned baked pita chips too! He offered me some when he noticed how bored I was when I was waiting for my food. LOL. Seasoned baked pita chips dipped in hummus is definitely a great and healthy alternative to chips and cheese dip. Maybe I'll bring some to this weekend's Superbowl party! Mr. Falafel also told me that all of the food on his menu is made from scratch, including the pita chips! Pretty impressive if you ask me. I highly recommend!

Considering that it's one of the few places around Morgan Hill that has a falafel stand, it actually worth checking out. Although that have their own take on the falafel wraps, I'm impressed with their spicy sauces (on request). Very filling for the value. One big plus is the sweet potato fries and hummus!

A wonderful discovery in Morgan Hill! Just went there for the first time with my daughter in law. I had the best Falafel that I have ever eaten in my life. The side salads were all freshly made and they encouraged us to try different things. There were just crumbs left over at the end of our meal. And for all you people out there who bitch and moan about how surly the owner is i beg to differ. When he is not in front of a hot stove or making his delicious creations, He is just the nicest Teddy Bear I've ever met and his wife is a sweetheart too. People just need to back off and let the chef do his thing. Just chill and stop nit picking at someone's livelihood. Sometimes i can't believe How cruel people can be. James R, Zippity D ........ Get a life! If you don't have something positive to say, just shut the hell up!!! If you don't like the food , don't' go there. Don't ruin someone's livelihood! As for me.... I found my new Mr Right er..... sorry .... Mr Falafel! One more thing...... CP from Morgan Hill I can't believe how low you can go! Sometimes when you come from the gutter , it shows! People ... when you write horrid reviews, that says something about you. If you have a problem, say it nicely to the owner's face. Don't' be a coward and yelp it. What happened to old fashioned Good Manners!!!

I used to see these Falafel places in SJ with people waiting in line for this stuff & always wondered what in the world is was... I've never had it & was stumped as usual on what the eff to get for lunch. My cool coworker suggested a Falafel since I'd never tried it & yup that's how I wandered over to Mr. Falafel. OMMGEEE. Bomb dig...no doubt. I'm not big on Mediterranean food simply cause I've never had a desire to try it but damn am I glad I did. So supposedly for all ya'll who don't know..falafels are small patties of chick peas & or fava beans that are ground up & made into little balls or patty looking things as a meat replacement during lent. So I ordered the falafel delux which is; falafel, tomatoes, seasoned onions, cucumber, with tahini and spicy sauce plus hummus, eggplant, and potatoes wrapped in lavash. It's like a vegetarian burrito with the tastiest sauces & eggplant, who doesn't love eggplant. I will def be coming back for the chicken shawarma which looks and sound equally amazing(Thin marinated slices of lamb and beef, parsley, seasoned onions, cucumber, tomatoes, with tahini and spicy sauce wrapped in lavash.) This place is a big yuummmmm spot.

I like this place. I try to stop here whenever I'm in town. Art, the owner, is there every time I've stopped in. He loves to talk and he cares about your opinion about his food. He loves to recommend things, too. I like that. I usually go spicy. Be sure to order hummus and a side of chips, all homemade, all good.

Great addition for Morgan Hill... You can't miss this A-shaped building on the main drag. The Middle Eastern cuisine here is great for a casual place, and very reminiscent of Falafel's Drive In in San Jose. Save for the dolmas and desserts, everything is handmade here. And no Kronos products here!!! Mr Falafel himself, Art, is a great guy. He genuinely seems to care about your experience here. He may be young, but seasoned restauranteurs could stand to learn something from this guy's interactions with his customers. Definitely worth a try...

I was in the Morgan Hill area while my gf was at work and I decided to get her some lunch to break away from her cubicle prison. She is usually complacent with the standard McD's, Togos, or other fast food joints in the area but I was feeling adventurous. Looking on yelp on my phone, I noticed this place; high ratings with number of reviews in the 60s so it seemed pretty consistent. Upon reading a few of the reviews, I already found myself salivating.... Garlic fries, fresh made hummus, shawarma. I'm already a big fan of mediterranean food so I was hooked already and the location to my gf's work was sooo close. Literally up the street and a left and I was already there in 30 seconds flat. Thats a star right there as I know now where to get a quick bite near around my gf's place. Getting there, it's a small quaint triangular building, essentially a hole in the wall type joint which is usually my favorite kind of place. There isn't much seating inside or outside, maybe at most 15 seats combined but I was getting distracted by the glass display of all the Vegetarian goods on display: Hummus, Baklava, Dolma, Baba Ganoush... damn it all looked so good. Then I saw Art, or Mr. Falafel, that everyone was talking about just sitting behind the register staring at me, waiting for me to order. At first I was actually kinda nervous figuring out what to order with his eyes on me. I picked out the Meditarranean Combo Plate first for my gf and was trying to decide what I wanted. That's when he piped out, "Bro, you like meat?" I was caught off guard but I said yes, and thats when I was exposed to Mr. Falafel's good-natured personality that everyone mentioned. He knows what guys like, listing off the shawarmas, kebobs, and falafel, throwing in his own opinion what I should get and I was convinced to the lamb shawarma. I also got a side of the famous gilroy garlic fries everyone was raving about. I paid for the meal and immediately the cook off to the side began making everything FRESH. At the same time, Mr. Falafel asked me if I liked hummus and gave me a sample of it with some seasoned Pita chips and I was just hooked on those. He saw my eyes widen and asked if I wanted an order of the chips. All I could do was nod. Again, the cook off to the side immediately got to work on making fresh pita chips and for a little more than $3, I had a huge, full paper bag of steaming chips in hand. I was in and out in less than 10 mins, not too shabby for everything freshly made and so tasty. I think I spent around $26-27 bc of all the reviews mentioning the items but the food lasted as leftovers for the next 2 days for the both of us was well worth it. My gf was so amazed by the taste of everything as was I. We will definitely be coming back to this gem in Morgan hill. Sad part is that I live in Socal....Nothing compares down here to Mr. Falafel.

I got a speeding ticket driving to LA so I find myself in Morgan Hill headed to traffic court. A buddy of mine recommended this place so we both head down before I have to go to court. As we walk in we are immediately greeted by Mr. Falafel himself. After some back and forth debating on what to order, Art suggested that we try the shawerma. He pulled out the sword he holds on his T-Shirts and explained the process of how they break down the lamb in house as he waved his scimitar back and forth. The lamb is marinated for 3 days then cooked to order. When I had I was taken aback. It was the best shawerma I had had in the states. The only thing better could have been a few places I been to in Spain and Jordan. We also got a falafel appetizer and they were freshly made to order. They are never sitting around pre-made. What made the whole experience more memorable was the conversation Art and I had about traffic court and how best to reduce traffic fines in court. Art assured me the best way to reduce the fines was to go into my court date sporting a Mr. Falafel T-Shirt. My response to this was, "Art I dont have a T-Shirt" and he simply gave me one for free if I promised to wear it in court. I complied and headed to my traffic court date with the T-Shirt and had my fines reduced to the minimum. Great food and better people. Four Stars.

Man the food was GREAT! Awesome vegetarian options. The guy that runs the place even gave us some free falafel to try since we said we were new to the area. I noticed a few reviews said that the owner was rude and made inappropriate comments. He joked around with us, I found it to be friendly banter... I could see how prissy yuppies would be offended, but I loved this guy! He is obviously proud of his food, and he should be! Its delicious!! It is a little pricey here though and thats the only reason I give 4 out of 5 stars.

Wow this is one of those amazing, can't live without hole in the wall looking places. The people that work here are super friendly- some of the nicest people in the food business that I have ever met, which just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Now the food. Well only thing I can comment on are their falafel sandwich and their OMG i just died and went to heaven garlic fries. Hands down some of the best garlic fried i have ever had. I got the Falafel with extra spicy sauce and it was just to my liking. I wish I lived closer so I could visit this place all the time, can't wait for my next trip up to Morgan Hill- my mouth is already watering!

Mr. Falafel says it all. If that doesn't catch your attention of place that makes you wanna try it out, then you definetly miss out on a lot in life. The wife and I were out in the area of Morgan Hill, and wanted to get a bite to eat. We decided on a local burrito chain restaurant, and before going in, we did the usual Yelp check to see what is around us. I saw the name Mr Falalfel, and I saw the great reviews so I knew it was meant to be. We ventured over and were immediately met with a smile by Art. Its small inside, with a couple tables inside and a few tables outside to dine at. Very clean inside.... Art was extremely helpful, polite and made a recommendation of the garlic fries but we decided on the seasoned fries, and he licked his lips and said we wont be disappointed. We both got the Chicken Shawarma, thin marinated slices of chicken, parsely seasoned onions, cucumber, tomatoes, with tahini and spicy sauce wrapped in lavash. Well, I got mine w/out the spicy sauce. We also tried the tabbouleh salad and feta salad. I've never tried either but man let me tell you, one bite of each and I was sold. The chicken shawarma was on hit..!! Very tastey, light and made the belly happy. The seasoned fries left us wanting more. We were dining outside and Art came out and greeted us and asked if everything was to our liking. He gave us a stamp card to earn a free item and chatted with us for a bit. He explained to us about the seasoning on the fries, that it is his mother's old recipe that's been in the family. He also referred us to Betty's for breakfast, which is in Morgan Hill as well and is family owned and operated by his family. Looks like we will be going very soon so I can try the Chili Verede Omelette... We definetly put this on our favorites list...!!! Go and give it a try, and I can bet you won't be disappointed one bit....!

After the Garlic Festival, we decided to stop here after a bit of shopping at the outlets. Downtown Morgan Hill is really cute but being it a Sunday, most of the shops were closed. Bum deal. Mr Falafel is located in one of those old skool remind-me-of-a-triangular super-small pancake house or something. We ordered a regular falafel, schwarma, side of sweet potato fries, 10 dolmas, and 2 baklavas. While they were prepping our food, I asked if they could make my sweet potato fries topped with cinnamon and sugar. The worker there Jimmy, gave me a strange look and said 'Lemme see what I can do' and back he went to the back of the place to peep out the ingredients. Next thing we knew, he was running across the street to the Java place to borrow some sugar! Sweet guy! He came in, dumped my freshly fried sweet potato fries into a bowl and lightly tossed them with cinnamon and sugar. He came out, let me taste it, and said 'Are they good?' I said "A bit more sugar." And he went back and did that whole "How about now?" routine until they were coated just perfectly. BIG UPS for that personal customer service! I got the falafel with a lil' bit of spice (recommended by Jimmy "The heat will be offset by the rest of the stuff inside." And he was right. Get it with a bit of heat). The Canadian, who loves him some heat, got his with LOTS of heat. The falafel was tastey, the schwarma was greatly seasoned but the Canadian said the meat was a bit on the light side. My fries were perfect. The dolmas we never got to try 'cuz they forgot to pack them in our bag (bummers), but we weren't charged for them so .. I guess that's alright. Two baklavas: one was dry and one was just right. The customer service definitely makes up for that one lil' glitch tho. Great food. Great falafel. Great Schwarma. Great customer service.

When our favorite Japanese place, CreAsian was closed during the after lunch hours, my husband and I decided to try Mr. Falafel as we looked up different restaurants in the Morgan Hill area. The place looks like a fast food joint, but the quality of food is definitely more like a sit down restaurant. The owner was very nice and gave us his recommendations. We both ordered the Shawarma and we were both very pleased. The wraps were so flavorful, and it does have some kick to it. I wouldn't order the Shawarma if you cannot handle spicy foods. It was truly a tasty treat and we really enjoyed their freshly made hummus and pita bread. This place serves really tasty mediterranean food.

No legitimate Bay Area review of falafels would exclude a reference to the legendary benchmark Falafel Drive-In. I have eaten falafels all over the country, and have yet to find better. Apparently the Food Channel's Dive Guy, or whatever his name is, agreed when they were featured. Yet, here we are at Mr. Falafel. The name is slightly amusing because it makes me think of a falafel in a top hat and cane. That could just be me. Yet it is an appropriate reference because Mr. Falafel dresses the falafel in entirely new attire: lavash bread instead of pita. Whaaat? But check this out - it makes sense. As often as I have eaten falafels, I have complained about the stuff falling out all over the place. What the top hat place, er, I mean Mr. Falafel does is prepare the falafel like a burrito. What this means to falafel loving folks like me is the stuff stays put. But, more importantly, it allows you to savor every ingredient in every bite. You heard me correctly: each bite renders a complete repetoire of falafel, tahini sauce, vegetables and lavash. No mess, perfect melding. Okay, so the dressing is perfect. But what does that matter if the flavor doesn't come through? Well, they deliver here, too. The falafels have the perfect texture with crispy exterior and soft but not mushy interior. They are fresh, and have just the right balance of seasoning. My only complaint was I would have liked a bit more of a flavorful hot sauce. Then again, I might have complained it was too hot. You can't please everyone. The atmosphere was perfect for my friend and I who rode our bikes from San Jose (this sounds more impressive than it is - remember San Jose borders Morgan Hill). Our sole criteria when hunting for food was that there be an outside table. Oh yeah, and he's vegetarian. Mr. Falafel has outdoor tables and of course is perfect for a hater of flesh. The owner came out and talked to us, bringing us a sample of their hummus which was OUTSTANDING. In fact, I wanted to bring some home, but my flesh hating friend had the only backpack and was too exhausted to carry an ounce worth of hummus back. But I digress. The story has a happy ending because I will go back for more. Bottom line: this place is good. Really good. If you have been to the Falafel Drive-In, you owe it to yourself to check out Mr. Falafel. Happy eating!

This place was uncomfortable. Not only is it a tiny place, but the whole time my coworkers and myself were there, the owner was pissed at the cook for not remembering what order was to which bag. If you have a problem, take him to the side, don't say it in front of everyone, bad business, and was embarrassed for him. Also, when ordering the owner was very short and rude to us. Not a fan of this place OR him! AND just as I thought, got our order to go, and it was incorrect! We ordered 2 spicy and one not, and we received 1 spicy and 2 not.

Overall their falafels are some of the best I have had. The owner, who was nice enough to take the time to show me that they are made from scratch in their kitchen, is very proud of what he serves. Since my son has played in the Pony Ball league since he was able to pick dandelions in the outfield I was impressed that he was a sponsor of one of the teams. That make me feel good about spending my money with a local business that gets involved with the kids. If they had a little more seasoning in the falafel itself they would really be fantastic. Will return when I am in the mood for falafels again.

It looks like Morgan Hill may have a good representative mix of cuisines now. We have the obligatory standard American fare, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Mexican. Now we can claim to have the specialty range representing the Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian, Philippine, and now Mediterranean/Middle Eastern. We are doing pretty good for a little town of 38,000 set out on it's own. Of course I have to compare the food at Mr. Falafel to the only other place that I have had decent falafels and that would be Falafel Drive In in San Jose. I have tried a smattering of falafels in many other restaurants but that is the only one I enjoy so assume that is the way it should be. Forgive me if that is not a good authentic falafel. Mr. Falafel compares very well and even has reason to stand out on it's own. They offer the option to make their falafels on lavash that comes out like a burrito. Very well done and convenient to eat. I would recommend asking for the hot sauce in the plastic bottle instead of the paste but that is just me. I love juicy hot falafels. What a fantastic addition to Morgan Hill's dining scene. It's reasonably priced, great tasting and open late. We have a winner, please don't change.

This is exactly what we were craving when we pulled off the 101 and checked out Morgan Hill for a quick bite on our trip down the coast. Quick and friendly service, clean and inviting shop, and most importantly, a really delicious falafel. The falafel here are made to order, not just reheated like they do at a lot of other falafel joints. The bread is a very thin lavash, so it doesn't overwhelm the falafel and other ingredients, and the whole sandwich is wrapped up so it's easy to eat and doesn't fall apart. A few tips to make this the best falafel experience ever: * upgrade your falafel with the works - eggplant, potato, hummus. * ask for a side of the spicy sauce - it's awesome! The dolmas are really tasty too. And we heard good things about the garlic fries but were too full to try them this time around. We'll be back!

Ah, Mr. Falafel, one of my food mainstays in Morgan Hill, I am satisfied every time. Art is a real nice fellow and takes a lot of pride in his food and restaurant. They just started delivering if you order locally an order of $35+. I've had the tabbouleh, baba ganoush, falafel, hummus, kefta kebab, pita chips and rice and have never been let down. They's even do party platters for your next work event. All in all, this place rocks. I think the last 3-4 times I've been in there, I've picked up the kefta kebab - those little chunks of lamb and beef mixed with fresh veggies and a damn spicy sauce are so addicting!

Wow, I'm impressed that we now have a Falafel place in Morgan Hill! Morgan Hill just keeps getting better, and better!! I guess they opened on Monday... I found out about it on Friday... I was there to try, on Saturday (today :) I ordered a Falafel Deluxe ($7.50), and my son got the Falafel ($6.95)(his first one ever). We both loved!! I also ordered the hummous, and tabouli sides (each $3.95). As a previous reviewer noticed... the man at cash register was not very nice to his fellow workers. I think reprimanding staff should be saved for after hours, and can be done in a more encouraging way. He was pleasant with myself, and other customers. Hopefully, just opening week stress, and not something that we will see long-term. (hence I'm not taking away stars ;) I'm overall too happy, and impressed about having this place in Morgan Hill... and the service overall was great!!! There was a huge line up... the owner (I believe the owner) was handing out falafel balls to the customers in line. If anyone told him that they already had one, he'd encourage them to take another. Myself and my son were offered them 3x during our wait. For as long as the line up was, the wait wasn't too bad at all. Overall, things were going quite smoothly for opening week. Customers that I spoke to in line, also seemed very impressed to have a Falafel place here in town. I recommend!!!!! :)

Yum! I love falafel and when I saw a check in from a fellow yelper I had to try this place for myself! The restaurant was easy to find since their building is on odd shape. They have their own parking lot which makes it convenient. We entered the restaurant and they had 2 tables inside but the majority of the seating was located outside. We looked at the menu and decided to try their falafel sandwiches. I ordered my falafel without tahini and my fiance ordered a deluxe falafel. My falafel came with falafel, tomatos, cucumbers, onions, spicy sauce, and wrapped in a lavash. My fiances came with hummus, eggplant, and potatoes on top of everything mine came with. We also ordered a pint of their hummus and homemade pita chips. All this came out to about $25. Before ordering the man taking our order helped us decide between lavash and pita. He recommended the lavash because it keeps everything from falling out (good choice). He also let us sample the pita chips before deciding. Over all great, friendly customer service. We got our food dine-in and sat outside. When our falafel was getting cooked they served us our hummus and pita chips. The chips were soooo delicious. They had olive oil, sesame seed, and I was trying to guess what the green spice was and I think it was oregano. The chips were warm and crisp and were so good with their homemade hummus. The falafel was wrapped in a grilled lavash. All together the ingredients were so gooooood. They have the option of getting half of a falafel sandwich and I think I will do that next time because it was too much for me. My fiance's was extra tasty because it had eggplant and potatoes in it. With the price, food, and friendly staff I will definitely return with my service.

After seeing so many reviews and alot of people coming here made me want to try this place. I think I had my hopes up because my bf and I were a little disappointed in the taste. I've had mediterranean before but this place wasn't for me. On the other hand I would be coming back here for their bakolva. It's one of the best I've had so far

This was my first stop at this joint, a place I have been meaning to try for a while. They fixed up a cool little building downtown MoHill and although I have never been into falafel I thought I should at least give it a try. Off the hook! Owner is great, service was great. He hooked me up with some lamb/beef wrap and it was amazing (can't think of the name). The garlic frys were a great combination with the wrap...the flavors were perfect together. However, if you are doing after eating here stay away from the frys...whew, I had bad breath all day. He gave me samples of his humus (best I have had) and falafel balls and I was very impressed. I will be back!

Driving down the 101, this is the place to stop. FOOD The food was amazing. It was authentic and well thought out. It was crafted and cooked to perfection and put together with love. I had the Falaffel deluxe with the hot sauce, it was incredibly flavorful. My friend had the beef/lamb Shawarma and it blew our minds. So much flavor wrapped up into a delcious explosion in your mouth. STAFF The staff knows their food. They care about where it comes from and how it is prepared, stored and bought. It is a delicate balance of authentic and modern views of locally made and produced. They are truly happy that you just walked in the door and will show you with samples and a quick conversation. ATMOSPHERE The seating has something to be worked on. Plan on not-eating in. Also don't ask too many questions, because you really will get your ear talked off. This will be my go-to place on the way down the 101 for any reason!!!

Simply put, the food here is delicious! They have a lot of wraps, and he onion rings are hearty. Don't forget about their garlic fries that are full of rich flavor. Additionally, they JUST added Rice Plates today! My god, maybe it was because I was pretty hungry, but it was good. Lots of food, and not overwhelming within the combination of flavors. Their food and sauces are fresh and all homemade. The guy behind the counter is super friendly, and always looking to serve his customers right. Give it a try.

Do yourself a favor and let the owner tell you what to eat. We went to Mr. Falafel for dinner the night before last and Art asked if we had been there before, when we said we hadn't he said he could recommend a great combo that we could share. He was right! The two wraps we ate were fantastic - the chicken shawarma with spicy sauce was delicious (not too spicy for us!) and the Kefta Kabob was mouth watering. My 2 year old son had the chicken strips and they were some of the best we have had anywhere! We also got an order of the hummus and lavash chips which was so huge we ended up taking most of it home. The lavash chips are outstanding on their own and the hummus is just as I like it, not too thick and well spiced! As newbies to Morgan Hill Art also gave us a few tips on other restaurants to try. He makes you feel welcome and comfortable from the minute you walk in! We love finding gems like this in our new hometown!

I'm a big fan of the Falafel Drive-In in San Jose so I went to Mr. Falafel ready to compare. I found Mr. Falafel's falafel sandwich in a pita to be pretty tasty. The falafel balls were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Toppings included chopped cucumber and tomato, as well as, hummus and the spicy red sauce (delicious!). I was disappointed in the pita quality as it seemed to be the same as the pitas sold at a grocery store. Mr. Falafel had a large menu with many salads and combo plates. I look forward to trying each item, but still maintain the Falafel Drive-In as #1! Suggestion: Do not buy the probiotic colorful beverage in the glass bottle. It looks like tea or juice, but it's actually carbonated and will fizz all over you after to shake up the sediment inside. And it's $5!

Good stuff and good service... friendly and upbeat... was able to relax and have a seat outside; they brought my falafel out to me and even came back to see if it was okay... Nice people and I recommend you get the falafel spicy!

What an AWESOME experience. we stopped here on our way to Gilroy and the combination of the staff and the food made this experience worth the whole trip. The owner (Mr.Falafel himself) was so kind and polite to us and even gave us the name to his cousins restaurant and told us to drop his name. Thanks for making us feel like part of the family. I will defiantly be back for some awesome falafel

I love a good falafel and thought I had tried the best out there, but all that changed when I went to Mr. Falafel in downtown Morgan Hill, CA. My daughter and I came here one day while we were looking for a place to eat lunch. I ordered hummus as an appetizer and the falafel deluxe because I like spicy food. My daughter ordered the chicken sharwarma. They brought the hummus out with some warm pita bread and my daughter tried some and immediately said, wow mom, this hummus is great, what the hell have we been eating? I tried some and had to agree, the hummus was fresh with lots of spices and garlic, which I love. We could not stop eating this. Our entrees came I took a bite of mine and immediately saw that the falafel was the brightest green I have ever seen. Al explained that this is due to it being freshly made with the fresh spices. I had to agree as it was the best tasting falafel I have ever eaten. Tammy enjoyed the sharwarma and we vowed to come back to this place, often. The best thing is that I don't have to drive to san jose now to get my fix of falafels (I used to be a falafel drive in fan).

They day we were driving down Monterey Hwy and saw a falafel house I almost drove off the road with excitement. My long trips to San Jose to get my falafel fix were over. I go here about once a week and love all their food. If you are in a hurry though you better drive on by. The wait is pretty long to get food. During a typical lunch the wait is 20 to 30 minutes. For me though its worth the wait.

First of all, the owner, Art, is the friendliest guy ever. He makes you feel like you matter to him and he seems to genuinely be a person who really, really likes to talk to people. And his food is incredible. The falafels are in a lavosh and then grilled. Oh. My. God. They rock. They are so very, very good. And the garlic fries? Um, hello? I live in Gilroy. We know our garlic. And Mr. Falafel knows his garlic fries. They are wonderful. If you leave without trying the hummus, you are a fool. The best hummus ever. Basically you can't go wrong at Mr. Falafel. The owner is so nice and the food is just simply awesome.

Food was very good - kefta kabob lamb was pink and juicy, not overcooked. Flavorful and fresh, good value for the price ($8). The incredible service, friendly attitude and warmth of the owner really made this place a true five star experience. Very limited seating, so its ideal for take-out. Enjoy!

My friend Tommy got me hooked on falafel when I visited him in Haifa. Here in Silicon Valley, we often traveled to San Jose or Sunnyvale to get our fix. Now that Mr. Falafel opened next to my office we can get awesome falafel sandwiches within walking distance. I get mine with extra tahini and extra spicy sauce. When extra hungry I slather on the hummus too. I hope they keep their late hours (midnite on Fri and Sat and 10 pm all other days).

Tried the Chicken Shawerma wrap and garlic fries. Came to about $14. Garlic fries were pretty awesome and the plate was quite huge. The wrap was not bad. Not huge in size. And not hot enough as compared to other Greek places (even though he said he would make it that way). Owner and guys behind the counter were very friendly. 4 or 5 outdoor tables & 2 tables inside the restaurant. Pretty good place if you are resident of Morgan Hill, Gilroy or any of the close by areas. Think that might account for the large number of 4 & 5 star reviews. But if you live in San Jose or north of San Jose, there are several other Greek places that offer better tasting food (and cheaper as well at times). Overall, might try it again if I'm around that area.

stumbled upon this place on a trip to morgan hill. Ordered the deluxe falafel, falafel salad, greek sald, and garlic fries. They were all amazing The falafell is perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. The food was amazing and the portions were sufficient . I gave it 4 stars only because there is very little seating inside and it was too cold to sit out. The price was a little high for the location but I guess you are paying for the goodness of the food. Next time I would probably make a pick up order but this place is a GEM in Morgan Hill!

  • Tina Z.

The salads are healthy and refreshing! it is a tiny little place with big heart and big flavor! The people are very friendly and make me feel welcome, sometimes handing me a sample of something I haven't tried yet, which hooks me every time! So please, please turn your car around from that McDonalds or Burger King and go get something good for you. it may cost a couple more bucks but aren't you worth it? Try the Tabbouleh salad if you are looking for something to give your body a huge kick start, so refreshing on a hot summer day, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, olive oil, fresh lemon juice ...and more. They use fresh, quality ingredients and you can tell.

I wanted to really like it... but, the fact that the guy couldn't work the register - handing over more money than necessary (and wouldn't have necessarily tipped)... and the food was so-so, it was a bit of a disappointment. If you are in a pinch and craving the Tab. salad - this was very good!

Mr Falafel is good. Their falafels are the BEST!! The other falafels i had in other places are dry and at Mr. Falafel they are moist and good. their hummus is also good. My favorite is their Meditarranean combo plale its delicious and its good for those who are vegetarian Overall their food is the best :)

This is my second update for Mr. Falafel...I seem to keep changing my opinion! I still think that they have tasty food, but, unfortunately, I've had to lower my rating. A few days ago we had Mr. Falafel cater a coworker's retirement party and we had several issues. The primary issue was that the food showed up 35 minutes late. This doesn't seem like a huge deal on paper, but when you have 50+ people including children standing around for 35 minutes waiting for the food to show up, it's noticeable. The second issue was that part of our order was forgotten and took another 15 minutes to show up. The delivery boy (he was probably a teen but seemed young) had a very odd smirk on his face as he was bringin in the last portion of our order which I didn't care for either. Although the food ended up being popular, I still wasn't happy with how uncomfortable it was having everyone wait for so long for the food to arrive. Sorry!

Not cozy or comfortable, but the food is very good and very cheap. The place is very funny looking - this tiny house in the middle of the average looking street, but the atmosphere is very nice and the honor is super friendly.

I love Mr. Falafel. The first time I visited Mr. Falafel, the cashier was super friendly and helpful. I knew what I wanted to get, Falafel wrap- non-spicy. It was wonderful and full of taste. I had brought my boyfriend with me, who has never had a falafel or Middle Eastern food. The cashier/cook was so helpful in helping him find something on the menu he would enjoy. My boyfriend had ordered the Schawarma and enjoyed it so much. While the cook was cooking, the cook had given us some of their pita chips and hummus. So yummy.

FINALLY!! A Greek food place in Morgan Hill! I haven't found anything on their menu that I don't like yet, and Art (the owner) remembers his customers and greets them all. Make sure you try them out!

Not a big fan. He's stingy --Don't expect more than a small piece of feta on your salad, if he accidentally spoons out two artichoke hearts he'll take one back, and boy is he grudging about making substitutions! But wow is he pushy-- buy this, buy that, buy more... None of the menu items are great, and the salads are mostly tasteless-- day-old mushy tomatoes, none of the amazing fresh herbs that make a mediterranean salad delicious. Too expensive for what is served.

We decided to stop at Mr. Falafel's on the way home from work last night. We were a little undecided what to order so Art, the owner, offered suggestions and samples. My order was for a Falafel Deluxe and my boyfriend's was the Chicken Shawarma. While we waited for those to be prepared we sampled Hummus, Baba Ganoush and Tabbouleh Salad. If you have ever tried Hummus before and thought it was too bland and boring, you HAVE to try Art's Hummus. I normally would have eaten it as a dip or added to a sandwich. This is good enough to just eat by itself! The Baba Ganoush had an excellent range and blend of flavors as did the Tabbouleh Salad. My Falafel Deluxe was AWESOME!! It was much better than Falafel of Santa Cruz or Falafel's Drive In in San Jose. Once I hear back from my boyfriend, I will add an update on the Shawarma.

This place was decent, but it wasn't great. I kind of felt like the owner was pressuring us to write him a great review on Yelp even before our food came out and then he continued to hint at it while we were eating. It started to become a little excessive when I had food in my mouth and he was still raving about his great reviews on Yelp and how when I get back in town, I need to remember to write my review about his place and ignore the bad reviews because those people "don't know what they're talking about". My shawerma was decent but I've had better in Fresno, and that's saying much. The coconut juice in his fridge that I ordered was super dusty on top and when he handed it to me, I eyed a dead fly on top and I saw him eying it too but he still handed it to me that way anyways. Sure enough, it was a dead fly sitting on top of the dust that settled on top of the can of juice. I had to wipe it off with a napkin and he didn't say anything about it. But the service is friendly, a little too friendly I might add and the shawermas are good, just nothing too memorable.

Mediocre food.. was expecting better. Art is a charismatic hustler. I may go again, but the falafel house in sj still trumps. I tried the garlic fries.. they were ok. Don't really know why so many people were raving in reviews. Not a bad review, but expected a lot better.

Dang! The deluxe falafel made my day. Twice. And I was only in Morgan Hill for one week! The sweet potato fries were pretty ridiculous too. This place is legit. Not to be missed.

Food is ok. Service is really bad. Too expensive. They try to sell you on add-ons to your order and when you say "no", they say "you're kidding, right?" Was empty when I went.

Went here for lunch today. I had the shawarma plate with rice and tabbouleh, my wife had the falafel sandwich in lavash. We both really enjoyed the food - the shawarma in particular was very filling. We also had great service, as both the cook and owner were very pleasant and helpful. Only downside we could really find was that, at $20, it's kind of a pricey lunch. However, you get what you pay for, right?

Chicken and Rice combo with house sauce is filling and extremely flavorful. I have cravings for this dish! This place sure looks like a whole in the wall but boy their food is by far impressive! Definitely in my top 5 for best Middle Eastern/Mediterranean in Nor-Cal!

I liked the chicken schwarma and the falafels. The schwarma's are very filling. The garlic fries are equally delicious.

I tried the Kafte Kabob today and didn't like it. It was raw in the middle and had no taste. My wife had the Falafel and she said it was good. I still think it's over priced especially when compared with other fast foods such as Super Taqueria.

Can't say anything bad about this place. Art the owner is a local kid who takes great pride in the freshness and quality of his food. The prices are reasonable and Art always make a point of greeting every customer as if they were family. I eat there about once a week and my wife plans to use him to cater some upcoming events.

We were fortunate enough to meet Mr Falafel himself when we stopped in late one afternoon a couple of days after Christmas -- he's quite a character! Everything we ordered was excellent and the portions are extremely generous! Mr Falafel also delivered free samples to our table! The place is tiny and a small space heater warmed up the 'front of the house' on a chilly day. Wish there was a Mr Falafel shop here in Honolulu, HI ... definitely will be back the next time I'm in Morgan Hill!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised after a late-ish evening stroll brought me to the doors of mr. falafel on a chilly evening. My friend and I were greeted by the owner, Art, who is gregarious and engaging (you can tell he loves what he does and is dedicated to the client experience). He immediately gave us a test taste of his hummus which was topnotch, the pita cips fresh and yummy, and assisted us with our menu choices. I am a fan of Med. cuisine and was excited to learn that mr. falafel had taken up the old barbershop space in downtown Morgan Hill. I had the falafel wrap and my friend had the kefka kabab wrap and we shared some garlic fries, a house specialty. After the first bite of each - we quickly realized that all 3 were a house specialty -- the food is tasty, the flavor combos well thought out and the execution impeccable. Pair that with such fresh ingredients -- I have no problem saying I enjoyed my falafel more than THAT falafel place in downtown san jose :). Seriously, hands-down I am a fan and recommend mr. falafel to locals and visitors alike. Trust that if you are not familiar with Med. food, art will walk you through it every step of the way and you will leave satisifed, more than happy to return, and entertained by art's enthusiasm and friendly nature. Kudos, Mr. Falafel!

They have some great chicken shawarma. If you like your onions grilled, you can order it that way. Their portions are huge and it can hold you over for a while. I once ordered their onion rings, and they were nice and flaky and seasoned. They were those giant onion rings which made it even better. I wish that the sauce from the lavash wrap didn't drip everywhere though, and that they at least buy some ranch (or that orange sauce) for the onion rings.

I went here for the first time yesterday with a friend of mine that is Afghan. We both had the chicken shawerma spicy, and it was amazing. My friend has had many shawerma's all over the bay and beyond, and he said this was by far the best he has had. Art the owner is an amazing guy. The customer service and care he shows his customers is unmatched anywhere! His mom Betsy was helping out along with his father and it is easy to see why this family is successful in the business with multiple restaurants in the area including Betsy's cafe, and a cheese steak shop soon to be opening in Morgan Hill also! If you have never tried Mediterranean cuisine make sure this place is the first!!

We've been wanting to try Mr.Falafel for awhile and finally decided to try it out. Art recommended a falafel deluxe, shawarma, chicken shawarma, and kefta kebob and was cut so we could share it 4 ways. We also got an order of garlic fries, chips, hummus, and a 1/4 pint of Tabbouleh Salad. Everything was delightful especially the falafel deluxe and the hummus. I love how everything we ate was made fresh. Didn't take long for our food to come out. I enjoyed having a good, long conversation with Art and his staff were very helpful.

  • Xina M.

Loved it! Had the falafel deluxe which is delish with the extra hummus, eggplant and potatoes. I wanted mine not spicy, and it was perfect. The lavash-bread was flakey-yummy-NOT falling apart. We ordered a side of pita/lavash chips and hummus. The chips were cooked up fresh and brought warm to our table. A crunchy, heavenly treat, covered in a proprietary herb mix--- happily too much to eat in one sitting, so I'm taking it home. (Ate them the next day, still crisp and delicious!) My daughter had a cheeseburger which she declared was the best-ever. (Hey, what about MY cheeseburgers at home?!) The owner and the chef were both friendly, and offered sage advice on tearing down the foil as you eat the falafel-it didn't fall apart, or make a mess, and allowed me to enjoy each delicious bite without stopping to mop up. Wish we lived closer; the place is a keeper!

Hands down best food in Morgan Hill! The restaurant is clean! Everything is homemade daily! the Garlic fries are to die for! I had the chicken Shwarma and it was awesome. The food gives you that not too full feeling and is full of taste! The humus is awesome I was never a fan until i tried it. The lamb and beef shwarma was suprisingly good also! i definately give it 5 stars!!!

We order in take out pretty much every day here at work and being Morgan Hill is such a smal town we seem to at times to get into a food rut . So whenever a new place opens up we clamor to try it out. I can tell you Mr Falafel did NOT dissapoint in the least bit. The food is generous and oh so tasty!! Its nice to finally have somewhere in town to get a decent falafel.

I love this place, I went twice this week. The owner Art is so friendly and kind it makes the visit even better. I love the falafel in lavosh and of course the Baklava is awesome. If you cannot decide what to eat, just ask Art he will help you chose. He has great customer service. Love everything about Mr. Falafel!

We loved Mr. Falafel ! The falafel here is way better than Falafel Drive-In; crunchy, with lots of texture and not dried-up. The service was excellent; they went out of their way to make sure we got our order how we wanted and after the order came, made sure that we were happy with the dishes. We overheard a person at the next table asking about several items on the menu. The guy at the counter (Mr. Falafel himself!) offered explanations and tastes were also offered. We'll definitely come back!

OMG. Morgan Hill has needed a place like this for a long time. I've been here twice and have not been disappointed. The Falafels are to die for. Just the right amount of spice and flavor. You don't miss the meat at all. Be sure and order the garlic fries to go with. The last time I was there my husband and I ordered the shawarmas - I had chicken and he had the beef and lamb. He loved his and my chicken was delicious. Make sure you bring your appetite because the portions are huge. The owner is really friendly and always checks on you to make sure you are enjoying your meal. If you want to get away from the boring burgers and fries joint check this place out!

I had the falafel sandwich with spicy sauce. It was really tasty. I loved the falafels- little bit of crunch on the outside and soft in the center. Felt disgustingly healthly after I ate it and the spicy sauce cleared out my sinuses nicely.

Morgan Hill has another great different place to eat. Went there on Tuesday night to see what they had to offer. The owner was outside chatting with customers and the people behind the counter were very friendly and helpful (if you don't know much about Mediterranean this is very helpful). I had the chicken shawarma and requested it with some kick. It was perfect except it was much milder that I prefer...I'll order lots more kick next time since I like hot/spicy food. Their menu consists of.... Regular falafel on lavash or pita (tomato, seasoned onion, & cucumber with tahini & spicy sauce) Falafel Delux on lavash or pita (same as above and add hummus, eggplant, & potato) Shawarma in lavash Chicken shawarma in lavash Kefta kabab Athens burger Hummus Baba Ganoush Dolma Feta sandwich Variety of salads, sides, and dessert They even have American foods...hamburger, cheeseburger, fries, garlic fries, and onion rings. I did order the rings with my chicken shawarma and this was my only real complaint. $3.50 for 6 small onion rings. They were good rings but $3.50? Kinda pricey sides in my opinion. Other than that...very good food, friendly people, very cool new addition to Morgan Hill. They are open until 10pm m-th and until 2 on Fri & Sat...good since most places in MH close early.

Who knew you could get Falafel in Morgan Hill....what a great new addition to downtown Morgan Hill. This place is more for take out since there's very little seating out doors, which is fine by us. Large menu and great food....love the falafel!!!

This may look like a fast food place, but it's not. This is restaurant quality food that's made to go, so, if it's a bit more expensive than MickeyD's, remember that you get what you pay for. From the beginning, I thought the food was wonderful, but when a visitor from out of town, who identified herself as being middle eastern, commented on how it was the most authentic she'd had in a very long time, I knew I was on to something good. I love the wraps, and the shwarma plate as well. There's a rice and lentil salad with caramelized onions that's to die for, especially when teamed with the tabouleh. The staff and the owner are great. I'd recommend it if you're not pressed for time, everything's worth the short wait! And have some of the pita chips that are always sitting on the deli case. They're great, too!

So damn good I had to get on here asap to shout it from the roof tops. I am no longer driving all the way to falafels drive in (san jose) for a fantastic falafel. Very fresh tasting, loaded w/ all the veggies. My boyfriend even tried the chicken shawarma which also exceeded our expectations. If you haven't been here yet YOU NEED TO GO!!!

Unfortunately after eating here I got the squirts! I had a falafel deluxe. I thought it was greasy and waaaay too spicy! I also think the workers should were gloves. When they wrap the falafel they really get their hands into it! I won't go back but maybe I got it on an off night. They tried to be friendly but it seemed like they were working hard to do so.

Our first visit to Mr.Falafel tonight and we were very impressed. The gentleman taking our order was helpful about how to order for our children since there was no children's menu available. Since the food is prepared on the other side of the counter it was easy to observe that they are meticulous about the preparation. The food is also very fresh and the environment appears clean. The bonus of the evening came as a result of a mistake with our order. I ordered the Falafel and asked them to omit the spicy sauce. They forgot and included it anyway. When we got home and realized the mistake, I called them. Art (the owner?) had it made again and brought it to my house himself! That is some great customer service! The second one was perfect. Thanks Art, we'll be back. :)

This was my first visit to Mr Falafel. The restaurant is small on the inside, but they have sidewalk seating. The Falafel is excellent here. The lamb Shawerma is very flavorful. We also tried the chips and hummus. and they were amazing. They have good homemade sweets as well. Art is a delight to meet and chat with. Will definitely be going back to try other dishes whenever I'm in the area again.

I moved to Morgan Hill last summer- and drove by Mr. Falafel SO many times and wondered how it'd be! I can't believe I waited so long. After my first visit- it became a regular stop for me. The food is good- and it's so nice to find a place where you can get a decent meal quickly. The service is great- they are knowledgeable and friendly. I LOVE their falafel wraps. So So good! My kids have tried the garlic fries and the chicken strips- and have been very happy. The only negative I can think of is the lack of good seating. This is definitely a place that you want to pick up from. There are only a couple of indoor tables- and they are super small and a little cramped. BUT- if you are like me and like to pick up anyways- this isn't an issue! Definitely go give Mr. Falafel a try!

This place is the greatest! Every time I have gone here, the food is hot and fresh. Very reasonably priced as well. Just like others have said, Art is a great guy as well and I just know this place will be a huge success. Do yourself a favor and check this place out

Love this place. The food is great and the owner, Art, is always very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Art bragged about his hummus being the best, and that the store-bought stuff just can't compete... well, he was right. We now make sure we have some of the Mr. Falafel hummus in our fridge at all times.

I had the Kefta Kebab and Falafel (yes both). The obvious comparison is Falafel Drive-In up in San Jose. I would rate the two places about the same. At Mr. Falafel both the Kebab and Falafel are in a pita wrap. This is VERY nice. At Falafel Drive-In it's a 'normal' pita that is sliced open, which can turn into a messy ordeal fast. Both the Kebab and Falafel were very tasty and not too salty at all. I ordered spicy, but they forgot to add it to my order for some reason. The two cooks when I was there seemed to be still learning how to prepare the food. The owner had to step in to correct the cooks while preparing some of the orders. Seeing the owner being very involved like that is good to see. Service was very friendly as well. I plan on making this place a regular stop for lunch every once in a while. I won't get two items from now on though...so full :).

I am an American form Arab decent and I know about Arabic Food. I just visited this place and I had their Falafel and the Meet sandwich. They both were just great. I am so happy now I don't have to drive to San Jose to get my Falafel Sandwich. The Falafel is cooked when you order it, so its really fresh. I give them Five Start for food and service as well. very friendly staff

Their website says "Open Everyday 11:00 am - 10:00 pm". Went on a Tuesday around 8:30pm. They were closed. No sign posted, no information about their hours.

I have tried to like this place, and love falafels in general. Despite my love of falafels; mr. falafel is just not good. There was only one time I enjoyed eating there and I didn't order the falafel. It's sad but their falafel is always burnt when I go there, and it tastes more like burnt toast then a rich flavorful piece of the mediterranean. Though I have to say Art the guy that runs it is very nice.

Excellent food! My fav is the feta wrap with the falafel deluxe a close second. I highly recommend stopping in...especially if it's a nice day and you can enjoy your meal on the patio.

I went to Mr.Falafel for lunch with a coworker at 12:00 noon and the place was full. Upon entering, the owner (I am assuming it was the owner) offered us samples of falafel balls. I was hoping they were going to be good as I was tired of driving all the way to San Jose for a good falafel...and they were. The place is very small so we had to order our food and then wait outside for our order. There are about 5 or 6 tables outside and they were all occupied. I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the guy at the cash register was rather rude, especially to the other employees. I probably would have given this place 4 stars if it weren't for that. I ordered the kabob on lavash and a falafel sandwich. The falafel sandwich was decent. It had about 4 falafel balls, a tomato/cucumber mix, onions, tahini sauce, and a spicy red sauce. They put a good amount of the spicy sauce but they are kinda stingey with the tahini sauce. To be honest, I couldn't even taste it. Also, don't order the pita bread...it just falls apart. I guess I was hoping for a more fuller sandwich like the ones you get at the Falafel Drive-In. I haven't eaten the kabob yet as I am still full from the falafel sandwich. Overall it's a nice little place and I am sure I will go back. I am just glad to see a place like this closer to home.

I am so happy happy happy!!!!! I really enjoyed my falafel. I would say it is almost as good as Falafel Drive in San Jose, however No need to drive to San Jose now except to go to work. I want to go back and try the humus... All we need is good french pastry shop in Morgan Hill and I will never have to leave Morgan Hill unless it is to go to work!!!!!

We've been driving by for weeks mumbling a little, "Open, open, open" chant as we passed. We had to be there on the opening day. Overall, I would say food quality is excellent. We got a Shawarma on lavash bread (marinated lamb and beef)--yummm! and a Falafel, also on lavash bread (you can also get it on a pita) with a side of dolmas. Really enjoyed all of it. We watched them making fresh falafel balls when we came in the door and I knew it was going to be good right then! Service was a little slow but, hey, it was the first day. I'm willing to give them some time to work out the kinks! Keep up the food quality and we'll be back...often! Oh, and also loved seeing they have late hours. Open until 10PM every night and until 2AM on Friday and Sat. Finally something open late in Morgan Hill!

Very fresh and flavorful and made fresh to order. Garlic fries are a must :) The Swarma is a Gyro (sorry if that insults someone). KEY to the success is the wrap, fresh lavash bread. No fighting flimsy pita pockets. The lavash bread is awesome!

DELICIOUS. Mr. Falafel is a great guy. The sandwich was good but a little spicy...and I like spicy. I tried this at a catered event.

Drove by this place many times and I finally stopped by. The food was really good. I ordered the chicken swarma and sweetpotator fries. It was really good. I don't know much about Mediterranean food, but it tasted really good. The owners mom Betsy was helping us and she was really nice. She gave us free samples of her potato salad which was amazing. It's not your usual picnic potato salad. It was potatoes with lemon juice, olive oil, and other stuff. It was really good and being someone that somewhat watches what he eats it was great cause no mayo was used. She also gave us a sample of the humus and lavash chips. I also like that they don't use the pita bread and use lavash breat instead. Which seems to be a thinner version of pita bread. Girlfriend had the falafel wrap and added hummus and that was really good also. You should stop by and try something at least. They also have hamburgers for the non adventurous type. Ask for Betsy.

This is a great place. Quite honestly, the Falafel was one of the best I have ever had. They got the recipe just perfect. My husband and I were both SHOCKED at how good the food tasted. It was good, really good.

I came here on a Saturday for take out, first time, and tried the Mediterranean combo. Everything was good, except for the pita bread. It was hard as a rock, and tasted like it was 3 days old at least. Since the meal includes hummus and baba ganoush, the pita is important for dipping. Pretty much ruined the meal for me, as every bite was disappointing (due to the rock-hard pita bread). Thus the 2 stars.

I thought both the Falafel and Shawarma were dry and lacking in authentic flavors. The hummus was decent. The price was higher than I expected and overall, I was pretty disappointed.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Whenever I come to town to visit my cousin, Jody, we head down to this place that we stumbled upon over the summer. We had been walking around downtown Morgan Hill on a warm summer evening and found a huge crowd of people milling around in front of this place. People were sitting on the steps of the building next door, sitting on the curb, or just standing on the sidewalk eating falafels. So we knew that we needed to try one. The food is incredibly fresh and delish. The staff is super friendly and even gave away falafel balls to everyone in the crowd. We have been back many times, and it never disappoints. Even the kids loved it. And there are plenty of other options on the menu....the garlic fries are great, and i heard about their sweet potato fries, but I haven't tried them yet. there is limited seating inside, but in warmer weather, they have chairs and table outside on the sidewalk, and its the perfect way to enjoy a balmy evening in Morgan Hill! You gotta check this place out!

delicious! don't get the half falafel, even if you can't eat a whole one. the bread they use on the whole one is way better than the pita on the half falafel!

We tried this place for the first time tonight and it was delicious! We tried three different kinds, the Regular, Chicken Shawarma and Kefta Kabab. All three were extremely tasty and very filling. The ingredients all tasted very fresh and the toasting of the lavash bread was a great touch. We will be going back and would recommend the place to others.

My husband and our two year old went for the first time tonight. We moved to MH over a year ago and have only tried a few places but none of the restaurants wowed me more than Mr. Falafel. Like other reveiwers, I too think their falafels taste just as good as the SJ Falafel Drive In. I ordered the Shawarma and my husband got the Mediterranean Combo Plate (that I ate from as well). Both were excellent. It was one of the best Shawarma I have ever had. Even their hot sauce and tahini sauce rocked. I'm already planning on going back tomorrow for lunch!!! I also really liked the staff, very friendly! They even came out a few times just to check in on us. The only thing I wish they had was some seating inside as tonight was super windy and proved to be somewhat difficult to eat outdoors.

Granted, I'm no falafel connoisseur but this place is really good. Guys there are really friendly and the food is fresh. Only downside is that I got the "spicy" one day and it was just right, then the next time it was too spicy. How can you know? There's no indoor seating but there's usually a shady table outside. They usually come out and check on things although this is more of a fast food type place than a sit down restaurant. I'll be back, plenty of times.

In a word, YUMMY! This place is even better than Falafel DriveIn in San Jose and now I won't have to make that long drive! I shared a falafel on lavash (which was a wonderful change from regular pita bread). All the ingredients were chopped, so you got to savor the same taste with every bite. The hummus (served with pita bread) was also very good and I added it to my falafel as well. Small place, but several small tables setup outside. Those working there were friendly and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Give this place a try -- you'll be glad you did!

SO happy to have Mr. Falafel in Morgan Hill. We desperately needed something like this to balance out our restaurant selection. My daughter and I each had a beef/lamb schwarma and they were delicious. The sandwiches were huge so we each ate half and are re-heating the leftovers tonight. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu items. I agree with previous reviewers who commented on the guy taking the orders. Not the friendliest fellow in the world. (This is why the four stars instead of five). He just sat there saying nothing until I made my way through the crowd and asked if this was where I place my order. A little surprising since the owner was outside and very friendly as he greeted everyone who came in. I also wish they offered water to drink. For those of us who don't drink soda or bottled drinks, a Mr. Falafel meal can be a thirsty experience. All in all a good experience, though and I intend to return..
